I am taking a break from MWO, and let me tell you why:
hit registration is garbage;
the old maps clearly designed for 8v8 are overcrowded;
my matches are filled with players who haven't played the game before, as well as people who mindlessly follow the leader (and then stop and let him go first, alone);
earning cbills is a joke (don't get me started on how annoyed I am that they nerfed cbill bonus during the middle of my month of premium time);
the maps still have movement problems;
collision with other mechs is garbage and just leads to rubber banding;
the heat fixes, while sinking the 6 PPC meta, make no sense (weapon linking?) and wreck innocent bystander mechs (LL users like CTF 1X);
capturing points takes an unsensibly long time, severely hindering comebacks and making players sit and sit and sit if they wish to play objectives;
certain mech hitboxes are garbage, like the AWS and Kintaro (why do they both have incredibly massive CTs?), while others, particularly lights, seem buggy (indiscernable from the hit detection issues);
PGI's list of priorities of adding content nice but superfluous to the core of the MW experience, like 3PV (to their credit, I am impressed with how it doesn't look entirely unfair and dare I say possibly fun), when tuning and fixing the core experience should come first;
removing 8v8 entirely, when maps like Forest Colony make no sense for 12v12;
playing certain maps far more often than others (check your player stats, it's disgusting)...
I won't bother mentioning balance issues.
PGI, what are you thinking? Why are you so slow to fix fundamental problems? You call it a beta, and we all understand the benefits of doing so-- getting the kinks ironed out before formal judgment is passed helps. However, people are not infinitely patient (who knew?!), and we need you to reciprocate in a timely manner the show of good faith by addressing the issues that make this game a far cry from the experience it can be. We do not want you to fail, as many of us love this game.
Which is why I am taking a break instead of quitting. I'll come back around the time Project Phoenix is distributed. PGI, please step up and prove to us that you are on our side. Much of this game's present success rests on good will. Here's the last straw of my goodwill. I'll see you in a few months, MWO.
