My Dual LB-10X 'Phract 3D will eat your face off. Hillarious when you alpha repeatedly and never overheat into someone's back.

I don't know, I see some variations on the Cataphract in the field.

The mech that takes the cake for cookie cutter loadout is the Hunchback 4P (Swayback). You will either see 9MLaser builds or 9SLaser builds and not much else.

I run the 9MLaser and have no intention of messing with it.

Dual Gauss, 4 mL, 2JJ's 4T of G'ammo.
Dump the JJ's and add 2 more T of ammo or a 300xl for 76kph.

Either the op be trollin, or he/she/it is the one that truly has no imagination.

This thead has become a totally awesome guide on how to build a kick *** Cataphract. There are some good builds here. The Cataphract is a great platform to do lots of different things with. It is the only good thing to come from the Cappies.

I leave part of my library of Phracts here. Many of these I have not even tried myself, there are just too many fits to try out.

My original idea, when the Phract was announced before closed beta and I learned the truth about LBX: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...8bc9867b385714c

This is on my "to-try" list, just have not gotten around to it:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...e35ecfc6f4f6ffe

My current 3D build, a little light on the alpha, but coconut monkey makes it OP:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...e37731c7660c3d7

I just picked up a 2X, I'm not really sure what to do with it. Any pro tips out there?

Psssh. Lemmings.

Mine has 8 medium Lasers and a TAG. Free thinker here, baby!!!
(OK, actually, the 7th fixed laser was annoying me, as it had to have it's own button, or trigger heat escalation. Couldn't group it with the arms, so..... TAG it is!)

Generally I don't think ill of the average cataphract - but when I see a lance of 3Ds...well, then I know what to expect, and it bores me to tears. Same with a group of highlanders.

It seems to me, you're more likely to meet a sniper lance when you see a group of identical chassis in a battle, than if you see those same chassis solo. Not sure why.

i tried that one, but you have to give up SOOOOOO much to get there. I'll stick to 2 AC/10, 2 Medium lasers, 105 rounds of ammo and a 340XL for 86 kph.

The jumpsniping 3D (2 PPC + Gauss) is the most popular Cataphract but there are plenty of other builds out there.

A Collection of mine:
1X: 5 MPL, STD 340, 19 DHS
2X: 2 LL, 1 AC/20, STD 305, 13 DHS
3D: 2 ML, 2 PPC, STD 300, 18 DHS, 4 JJ
4X: 4 AC/5, XL 255, 10 DHS
IM: 2 ML, 2 AC/10, STD 290, 11 DHS

I don't like the 9 ML setup. Too much heat generating for a brawler. I prefer 2 LL in the arms and 3 ML in Torso/Head. I've also seen plenty of 2 PPC Hunchies

Yup. My 4P is a PPC Hunch. Why bother building ANOTHER brawler HBK when my CanOpener 4G is already so good at that role? So it's my Medium Support Mech build. Sadly, in the current Meta, I find my 4SP the odd Hunch out because it simply is not as heat efficient as my other brawlers, nor the punch as concentrated. (Plus the heat is not near an issue in support as it is on the front line, so my PPC HBK-4P works out OK. Though really a heavier chassis would be better, at least until weight limits come in. Then I think we will see plenty more support Hunchies and Cents show up.)

Think I'm gonna switch my SP to a LRM mech. Hmmmmmmm.

HBK-4Surprise!!!
my current mod, have to run it a bit to see what needs tuning. Am seriously considering dropping the 250-260XL into it, since it doesn't have the Hunch issue anyhow, and will be mostly in the support role.

if I do XL it, it'll look like this HBK-4SP probably

There is a thread around here called something like "what Mech do you most enjoy seeing on your team" and I chose phracts because I love having a few flanking me when I;m brawling. For nothing else besides the fact their pilots as a group seem to have the best situational awareness IMO.

Cataphracts are brutal. The ole STD300/ AC20/5ML CTF-1X is a staple and durable workhorse that scares me more than any of the 2xppc Gauss builds.

He will have friends charging around the corner with him and they will not go down easy.

That's my personal favorite.

My Mifune ILYA muronet runs 3x AC5, 3ML, 340xl and a lot of fun!

My 3d use 4 large lasers, jumpjet and a 340xl.

Both build I often reach 500+ damage plus many kills and assits.

I cold stole Soy's 4 LL 3D build.

Talk about lack of imagination, my Ilya runs a 3 UAC/5 + 2 ML build with 8T of ammo (because I can't aim, LOL). Even with the annoying jamming, I can't give it up. It's just too damn satisfying.
