So I'll start with this:

The only weapons I had were a pair of Gauss Rifles and a pair of medium lasers with only gauss ammo anywhere in the mech... So the only ammo this could possibly refer to is the gauss ammo, however gauss rifle ammo doesn't explode...? So how exactly does that happen...?

I believe that the end screen doesn't have a separate "Gauss Rifle Explosion" tag, it just registers as "Ammo Explosion". So! your gauss ammo is non-explosive, it was your gauss rifle exploding that killed you.

Hope this Helps!

Minoxen is correct. A Gauss rifle explosion is incorrectly reported as an ammo explosion.

That is one crazy explosion then... I've had my HGN lose a gauss rifle before to an explosion, but it's never finished me off... Oh well, still a bug that it displays incorrectly... :P

it has a 90% chance to explode, and will most likely take out a side torso location if it does explode, so having torso mounted gauss with a XL engine is a bad idea unless its a catapult (due to its really small front facing side torso's)
