Something like that would be very cool to have. It will be a part of the community binding. People LOVE to share and show they're Mech builds!

Feature: Import and Export Mechuild configurations from the MWO game client to a webside based mech configurator (like http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/ ), and vice versa.
This way, we User, can easily share Machbuilds between each other. Ether, in side the game itself (game lobbie chat) or through the Forums.

Of course this Feature has to be done with the cooperation of the web side owner/admins. I dont know how far the webside owner are willing to cooperate or invest work into such a feature.
Maybe PGI itself can start to make his own little Mechbuild Webpage for this feature?

How to realize:
-the User can build a Mech as usal in the MWOclient/website
-on a click of a button, a code is been generated that contains the information of the Mech build. This code is showed in a text window.
-> something like a ~20-60 digit (hex) code. (Let us call it "MWO MechBuildCode, MBC") This code contains all information about the mech type, heatsinks, weapons, etc.
-this code can be copy&pasted (from the windows clipboard) into MWOclient/website into a specified text field.
something like a "MBC input text window"
-The MWOclient/website detects and shows the Mech configuration from the Mech Code on its own surface (mechlab/webpage)
-in the MWOClient: The MWOClient detects the Mech and its configuration and shows it in the Mech Lab.
-Till now its only in the show mode. The User can now apply this configuration to a existing Mech that he OWN.
-If purchases are necessary to complete this imported Mech Configuration (e.g. weapons needed), a pop-up window appear -> e.g. "do you want to spend 1.234.567 C-Bills for this config?"

Taht is nice. I just thought an export function might be a good idea. Lets check if somebody already suggested it. And there, a thread from this morning. What a coincidence.

I strongly support this idea. It should be quite easy to export a mech and its configuration in an XML format. If the schema is public it should be no problem to adapt to it for smurfy or others. The import function would be great as well. But it might be more complicated as the data would have to be validated and missing components would have to be bought, etc.

Fully support it, any meta data import /export would be nice. I guess everything is waiting on UI 2.0
