That's actually pretty cool, do you know what it was?
why does it matter? Seriously. What difference does it make beyond they have more people playing now than they ever have before. That's a good thing, so I'm happy. How would knowing the actual number matter?

Oh, communication! Transparency! Because PGI is somehow obligated to share business metrics with you.

But seriously, what does it matter what the number is? How would it change anything?

Let's be clear, the PGI stat referred is to Founders logging in... only more than half..

This fact is disturbing in of itself, even considering the lack of CW. There should be more when some part of CW arrives, but that is not a stat worthy of mention by PGI.

With regards to concurrent number of players, it has very much to do with everyone that has bought the PP. It's not surprising, but that stat isn't going to be sustaining, as it's just more mechs to play with and everyone would probably wanting to grind what they bought. It's not a more permanent boost like a new mode, some form of CW, or even something that would genuinely get people excited about.

It's a low bar that's being set.

This game has much more in common with failures like Vanguard, Star Wars Galaxies and other games which polarized their player bases and ended up failing to live up to expectations.

Comparing this game to WoW is laughable.

This game is a failure? Well at least we don't have to listen to the "refund" nonsense everyone was spouting off about anymore do we? The numbers of reseen in every match are proof of that fallacy.

Besides, everything I read about Vanguard before it released was that it was the second coming of Christ, so it's funny to see it get bashed so much now.

If people came to the forums and put in constructive feedback on making the game better, I'd be all for that.

Unfortunately it doesn't happen that way and everything is just full of hate and anger. Having that type of personality is far more of a curse than having to deal with some annoyances in a video game.

So is that the new mantra?

"We've been proven wrong on the number of Phoenix package sells, but LOOK only half the founders log in anymore!"

Is that the sky falling again?

I keep seeing the few same people in my drops. It's not a plus and has been more or less the case since launch.

No, it'll probably hit a new low. The sky is taking its sweet time falling.

I know you have a lot vested in MWO failing, but eventually you have to admit you are wrong. Otherwise you're just going to look like a Flat Earther.

The fact that you're suggesting that I want MWO fail saying you don't actually read what I write.

I want MWO to succeed, but a lot of the stuff they are doing does not project in that direction. Feel free to disagree, but saying that there are problems about a game doesn't imply the demise is inevitable, but it is an actual concern shared by many.

I was always happy when CCP would share their "online players" figure and a game ought to be proud of it. The secrecy and "Why does it matter to you!?" attitude raises suspicion. Shouldn't they be bragging?

Oh, don't be ridiculous; it's hardly grasping at straws. There's no actual need to say anything more than "MC consumables" or "ghost heat" or "ghost delay" or "tutorials" or "Elo" or "3PV" or "DHS" or "Jumpsniping" or even "8/12 man queue" to give people enough of a reason to be upset, and every one of these is still an outstanding issue.

Even if they fixed the scaling, it would not make up for the existence of Ghost Heat. Thus it's funny to pretend there's some shortage of grievances. There's no need to invent new ones, it's just dark comedy that PGI continues to do so.

For your outstading issues, you can buy all MC consumables for CBills and a 1 time GXP purchase, 'ghost heat' was actually advocated first on these forums, I personally don't have an issue with 'ghost delay', they are making the tutorials and have said that they would have to come after UI 2.0, Elo, or MMR since that's what it actually is, is probably fine, once the min/max weight gets in after UI 2.0 it should be a lot better, 3rd person really doesn't provide a benefit to most people and they have said that they are pushing it to it's own queue (might be some issue with this UI and it's shittyness too), and Jumpsniping got fixed. What are the problems with DHS or 8/12 man queue exactly?

There is no evidence that MWO is failing. There is evidence that it is growing.

You just want to be right so badly that you ignore all the evidence just so you can say "I called it first! Told you so!" Sadly, it just means you are doubling down on a losing horse and won't take your money off the table. Keep ridin that dream into the craterit is going to make!

Have you checked the news section recently?

Can you find one article linked in that forum that PGI can really hang it's hat on?

Have there even been any articles since the initial release articles? A month later the game is already forgotten.

It's not as if there is some major advertising going on, the only time I see the game mentioned is when I'm at work and I google Mechwarrior which causes ads to show up.

None of the gaming forums I frequent have an active thread on this game, they had threads...but everyone said the dev's stunk and the game was stagnant...even the fact that the game left beta garnered no mention.

PGI will keep releasing mech packages and might make enough money to stay afloat from it. But considering the fanfare that MW:O garnered via the success of the founders program, this game has to be considered a major failure.

I have no evidence, outside of the people in my friends list that don't appear more often than not. Maybe I'm just that lonely. ;)

LOL. I don't mind being wrong, and it's fine if what I say doesn't occur. If most of it did occur, well this game is worse off than I'd hope it shouldn't be.

I like how people make assumptions on what others are thinking. Because, being right doesn't actually mean it's a good thing.

What evidence? Please provide hard numbers showing growth. Most of the website statistics tracking participation on this site show spikes of traffic at patches and I'm sure the release of Phoenix helped, but then it drops right back down.

Can you show me your evidence of growth? My definition of failure seems to fit right in with at LEAST half of the founders.

Yup. Russ just posted on twitter that they had record form activity and concurrent users playing. Check the dev tracker.

What is the normal churn rate for a F2P game over one year? 50% maybe very high retention rates for this industry. I'm assuming you have this information necessary to say that 50% retention is a failure, or is that based on how you "feel" about the issue?

Most genuinely don't consider logging in as "retention". If you play one match after the patch and then disappear until next patch... I guess that's a plus for PGI's stats?

Yeah that's what I thought, you have no numbers. You are pulling that 50% number out of your *** as well.

PGI are very happy to massage the truth to try and make their game look good, let me know when Russ tweets some actual numbers.

Website traffic numbers and PGI admitting at LEAST half of the Founders stopped playing before release.

I'm also basing it on the glaring lack of coverage from gaming sites. And the coverage they did get, they did not have one article that you could really consider being an endorsement of the game.

Website traffic hit an all time high this week. What are you talking about?

Is PGI hiring? That's a good sign to tell if a company is doing ok too.
