I suspect that those complaining that the Phoenix colors are the same as the PC Gamer colors are the kind of people that think eggshell and ivory are both just white. (I thought the same thing until I said it out loud in front of my graphic-designer sister. I still have the scars.) You may not see/care about the difference, but that doesn't mean there isn't one, nor does it mean that PGI is being lazy/screwing us over. It just means that you don't see/care about the difference, and whose fault is that?

So please, please, please quit your belly-aching.

EDIT: Releasing bits and pieces early is a great idea! Keep it coming, PGI!

I wasn't.

I will say that this was an unexpected surprise. When I last checked was back when Cobra had just come out. At the time, they were simply "brighter" (Vibrant) or "darker" (Muted) but otherwise identical.

I decided to do a comparison. I see the colors have changed in recent patches. Good work PGI.

Those colors aren't the same.
That said, they are WAY similar, that said I think they should look at some tweaks to the colors.

Liking the progressed unlocks, very clever.

okay,sry...i revised my decission and purchased...honestly,i can´t withstand the PP Battlemaster variant, it´s too much of a great loadout... and the other mechs and variants also, nice stuff... i don´t care much for the colours though, but all in all, for 60,-€ the overlord is a nice deal

which colors changed specifically?

hmm.. curious why PGI likes this red/black/white theme so Much.

it is dubious that the 2 free color sets are similar red/black/whites, but other than that the 2 paid skins don't come with the colors for free so i don't see why they are using a limited color set on all of these.

i'm hoping the phoenix red comes out a bit more orange.

YAAAY Phoenix colors for all my 'mechs!

Boo... no SHD-2K (PPC instead of AC5)

This looks like the PC gamer colors. How about some yellow, or orange? For that flame and fire feel?

Maybe?

The White and Red look a lot brighter than the PC Gamer Grey and PC Gamer Red.

Specifically? They ~all~ looked like brighter versions of the PC Gamer colors before. No tint changes. Just...brighter. Nothing else at the time. Now, some look more tan/beige with a much brighter red. The other has a very "white" color instead of grey.

"Project purchaser the phoenix paint colours unlocked for all of your Mechs! " When you say this do you mean "all" my mechs or, just the PF mechs?

Between the Phranken and PC Gamer colours, I sure am going to be spoilt for choice with blacks, reds and greys (ok yes, the Phranken is bone colour, not grey).

Still, not complaining

PGI, I would just like you to know that last night, after reading answers and discussion in the AtD 44 thread, I was extremely apprehensive about ever spending any more money on MW:O. However, I just logged on, and lo and behold, there was this, as well as an announcement about doing something about Kintaro hitboxes, and I have just purchased another $100 worth of MC.

Thank you for offering this unnecessary bonus, and thank you for taking note of problematic issues with your recently released content. I understand that you are a small studio, a lot of things take time than players realise, and a lot of things are more complicated than we often will comprehend.

Communication, feedback, appreciation of your playerbase, and acknowledgement of problems with your game go a very long way to giving me the faith to stick with this game. I applaud these moves, and I hope to see more of them. I would very much like to be playing MWO for years to come, and will happily continue to support it if I see activity and responses such as those that I did this morning.

Thank you very much.

Greetings, MechWarriors!
Project Phoenix has exceeded our wildest expectations in popularity, and we wanted to thank you for your support. As a token of our appreciation, we’re giving every Phoenix Project purchaser the phoenix paint colours unlocked for all of your Mechs!
As it continues its popularity, we’ll add more and more rewards to anyone who purchases, or has already purchased it. So if you already own it, here’s more stuff! And if you’ve just purchased it, thanks for giving people more stuff!
Also, we've added a list of the variants that will be released for each Phoenix chassis; enjoy!
Cheers,
The MechWarrior Online Team

No thanks. Current state of the game is already making me question my prior purchases.

How do you know it's unnecessarily. Maybe people have been refunding (or not buying) packages all this time. Also you're very easy to please. We still haven't gotten any of the things you listed.

Not to mention forcing people to spend $80 just to get the one mech that is actually worth getting.

Anybody else notice that "custom geometry" means "different shoulder armor"?

I hope it doesn't actually imply different hitboxes... because those are the things that would get people upset.

Nice!
And, PGI, thanks for the boni. It's alwys good to have some additional colours.
I also like, that for three phoenix chassis there is at least one upgraded variant. Would have been nice to have this for the Beamer, too (-3S instead of -1S).

No, we haven't got anything yet other than an acknowledgement of a problem just about anyone who bought a Golden Boy has posted about. The rarity of any sort of acknowledgement about such problems makes it all the more significant when it happens.

I'm not easy to please; this is the one game in my favourite IP that is less than 10 years old, and which currently has a chance of success and further development. Progress is admittedly slower and more sporadic than I'd like, but I'd like to give it the best chance of success, and I'd also like to let PGI know exactly what I want from them in order to be content with supporting them. I'm not happy with a lot of the decisions that they have made with regards to balance and the development directions, but I have stated such in other places. When PGI do provide something positive that I appreciate, I want to give them feedback about it, and put my money where my mouth is. If it sounded like I made an impulsive decision, that is certainly not the case.

I have no doubt that many people also have put off buying PP or have asked for a refund, and are doing their best to 'vote with their wallets' about how they feel about the state of the game and it's development. In that sense, if this 'bonus' offering was financially motivated (and you're right, it probably was) then no, semantically it was not unnecessary. I meant that in the sense that I did not expect to receive it, and it is something over and above what I paid for.

Edit - Just read that they've also commented that they are going to rescale some 'Mechs too.
