I'm curious as to how you put a 10 crit AC20 and a 6 crit LB10X BOTH in a side torso that only has 12 crits.

Well spotted folks

There really is no secret here, I wish there was! It should have read AC2. I run it in tandem with the LBX10 Scattershot; the AC2 is actually really good, it's sort of like a slower machine gun and keeps fire raining down on the enemy while the LBX10 reloads.

You read my mind!
I discovered the Omega about six months ago and instantly realised that it was the fire unit for me. The only snag is the Timeline, 'Bless it'. It looks like I will have to stick to the Atlas for a few years yet. LOL.

The Atlas becamse useless as a mech when the PPC became the dominant superweapon.

This is probably the finest Atlas i've ever built. It is one hell of a lot of fun, and obliterates targets.

Keep the AC2 and the AC10 bound to the same firing group so the fire at the same time. Just hold down the trigger and watch as damage stacks up like a slot machine. Aim for the their heads. Generally you will end up hitting their CT anyways but the explosions from the AC2 will suppress any mech, make them flinch and turn

The true strength of the Atlas has always been it's ballistics and missiles allowing you the most damage for the lowest heat. So what you do is use the combination of AC's and LRM's on target until they get under the LRM range, then open up with the Quad meds as the engagement dictates.

This is an absolute bear of a Warmachine.

Mine has an ERLLAS in each arm, two mplas in the center torso, AMS and two AC5. I tried it with two UAC5 but the dang things were always jammed. This gives you a good punch at any range. The AC5s don't do much to the heat, so you can usually keep firing them unless you are at the very point of shutting down. Seems to work pretty good, so long as you don't let yourself get separated from your main group.

4x Medium Laser
2x SRM6
2x UAC/5
STD 300
1x AMS

Load with ammo, get armor values where you want, and aim well.

that's the build i run too! :D it's pretty much the only way you can be better than the stock build, by utilizing the two ballistic hard-points at the same time. great at every range

I go with an almost stock build.

4 Medium Lasers
1 AC/20
1 SRM 6
1 LRM 20
STD 300

You've got a long range punch that you can use WITHOUT exposing yourself to the snipers. You've got a massive brawler punch when they try to close on the 'missile boat'. Between 200 and 300 meters you can unload ALL of your weapons. Say what you will about stock mechs. Sometimes they really are designed well.

only thing i would change is making the AC20 into a Gauss. more long-range if needed, and much lower heat generation... which helps you use the 4 ML more often

I take it you upgraded to DHS, maybe threw in some more ammo?

Yup. 3 Tons of AC20, 3 Tons of LRM, 1 Ton of SRM and 1 Ton of AMS.

Agreed, but I love the AC20 so I keep it :)
