My friends and I would occasionally get enough together and dip our toes into the 8v8 queue, winning some, but often getting crushed by high alpha builds and cheez of the month teams. That's a whole other topic though, what I'm curious about is how it's going now that you need 12 players to make a per-made for that queue?

I have to assume that it's pretty thin pickings these days. Matter of fact, I'd be surprised to hear its any better than it was as 8 mans, since the number of groups that can organize enough to field 12 has got to be reduced.

I know the Devs said that they are going to work on allowing groups of more than 4, in other words 5 thru 11, and correct me if I'm wrong, but did they mention anything about allowing various pre-mades to opt to drop in a 12v12 and be matched up so you get (for instance) three 4 man groups matched up against a 12 man per-made or two 6 man groups?

I suppose that this might just be another way of saying that there needs to be a single player only queue, just being said from the other side of the mirror.

I just hope that they are going to implement a system that groups pre-mades of varying sizes to fill a 12 person side and then matches it against other similar groups, and lets the lone wolfs opt to drop in random groups of their own

1. I hate it when I make a spelling mistake on the title and can't fix it.

2. No replies, so I guess that's as good an answer as I can expect. Not many 12 man organized drops against other 12 man groups going on.

There is plenty of 12v12 going on. Going fine for us.

We dropped in 12's last Friday against the Comstar Irregulars (and Steiner once). It was a blast. The expansion to 12 has really opened up some tactical options and made others much more viable.

Scouting is huge. We ran a 2xJenner, 1 Cicada scout group (which I escorted on occasion in my 2 ERLL BJ) and they were able to scout, harass the enemy, and run counter harassment to protect fatties.

Speed is also huge. Sure, there are still a lot highlanders and such, but faster mechs, even mediums, have their place and have a lot of value.

Flanking is also viable now.

Overall I like 12's a lot, but it really shines in organized play.

12v12s are not all that bad. The best 12v12s are from the Marik campaign or just scheduled skrims with other units placing restrictions on tonnage and weapons.

It's the same as 8v8, win some loose most due to cheez and the militaristic groups that play it all the time. Smaller groups that hook up to form a 12man can't win often enough to keep people from rage quitting over getting rolled every other match. You watch as your team gets melted by PPC meta builds from Stalkers for Glassaphracts. Then you get matched against a group like you, a hodge-podge of players who formed a 12man and it turns into a nice battle.

We run our premade 12s on Tues-Thurs of each week. 18 matches last week, looking forward to this weeks. It was an absolutely incredible improvement from 8man play in terms of strategy, tactics and maneuvering (and well....fun). We didn't have any trouble finding matches any night. Drop compositions were across the spectrum, but we found that they generally trended towards 600-750 tons, with only a couple of teams using more than 4 assaults. Lots of PPC+Gauss, but also lots of other varied lance composition.

On the whole, a vast improvement.

No worries, you repeated the mistake in your post. Now it looks purposeful. :D

Following up from another member: Unfortunately we saw a lot more 6-or better assault teams this week compared to last week. Teams are adjusting to the additional 4 mechs, and without any match balancing mechanic (weight matching/total tonnage matching/global limitations), it can be quite unforgiving to do something radical like bring mediums :).
We've been focusing on developing aggressive tactics with 3 lances and adapting to the enemy on the fly, so a 12-man night where we lose as often as we win isn't a huge blow for us, but bringing less DDCs and PPCs has definitely cost us a few matches. Luckily, the map rotation has more large maps to allow maneuverable teams to outpace the fatties, and there's always a few 12mans out there looking to mix their compositions up. Conquest is still where it's at, with dynamic fights and unpredictable positioning. Nightwatch will be back in the queue at the beginning of next week as always, see you all there.

It doesn't and it is stupid. I play on off hours (IE I live in the US but work late so I play with austrailians mostly) and it gets dumb because you can almost never get a match and when you do its the same team over and over again. after the first match or 2 they start tailoring their builds to defeat you. not enjoyable at all, make it a lance(4 man) on lance with no cap points and a tonnage limit and then your talking some good fun gameplay.

It would be nice to see some more pre-made options like 4 on 4 or 8 on 8.

Having more options for organised team play would be a good thing for the game as a whole.
