I know trial mechs change periodically but do you lose xp when they do or is it remembered?

It's remembered. The trials I ran all weekend show XP I earned in the mechlab when I open it. I think whatever you earn on whatever chassis/variant stays with you.

Confirmed. I still have XP on all the champion mechs (and corresponding variants) I ran in trials but didn't buy.

Yeah, and if you ever buy that variant for yourself it will have the XP you earned on the trial mech.

Yup. I used the current Catapult champion to grind out my basics and Elites, then purchased the A1, bought the skills, and sold it (was cheaper than customizing it and let me work on it while I couldn't afford it). I still have the XP from last month's trials as well.
