I suggest starting with medium setting and seeing what FPS you get. If they are high enough, you can increase your graphics level one notch until the FPS becomes unacceptable. Just be sure to turn post-possessing and anti-aliasing off.

you should be able to run max settings i'd think..
i've heard from buddies the I5 2500K is a mad overclocing machine aswell...

also try to run whatever resolution your monitor is natively (unless you plan to downscale wich makes everything look edgy)..

Game is usually running around 35-50 Fps all the time, Im using the Catalyst Beta drivers 13.8...

Have fun, dont forget the SRMs!

I run max setting at 1600p with a 2600k at 3.8ghz, 8 gigs DDR3 and a non-GHZ edition 7970 at stock speeds. I get between 45-60 fps

That's a CPU issue. If you disable half the cores you'll get better results and smoother game play.

yea but if you ask me disabling 4 cores on your 8 core

you are as good as making a V8 run only as V4

Aff, the CE3 engine is multi-threaded so an AMD will perform better in those aspects which makes me wonder why its not in MWO, unless there's something else going on, this is why I was going to run the benchmarks on my FX-6300 in the first place before all this debate broke out.

modern gaming will move more into multi-threading from this point forward I believe but will AMD hold the top spot in multi-threaded apps over Intel? who knows to be honest, Kaveri core sets hold a lot of promise for AMD.

Just an update that on this last patch, my FPS went up to where I can now play on medium settings at 1680x1050. I'm using a Radion HD 6750 with an i5-2500K and 8Gbs of ram. Low settings yeads about 40-50FPS.

MWO is not a big truck...

But, in all seriousness. This shows a pretty fundamental misunderstanding of 'cores.' They are not additional cylinders all pushing on the same drive shaft. It's more like multiple trucks assigned to the same task. Sometimes you have enough trucks to get the job done, and more trucks just get in the way. To really strain this analogy, what if it's the manufacturing facility (video card) or loading docks (RAM) that is the bottle neck?

Perhaps this should be programmed in, however this has always been the trouble with PC games, the hardware is pretty variable. It sometimes means figuring out how these things run on YOUR hardware. Therefore, if specifying only 4 cores fixes an issue, and you know that, consider yourself lucky.

thanks for pointing it out

i can really mess up my way of representation of the computer with real world items

how about 8 cooks trying to prepare a feast? sounds yummy

but right now MWO just cant seem to coordinate the 8 cooks to work together effectively, while Crysis 3 could just serve a feast on the eyes again and again

I would think with that much power you would easily get a steady 60fps. I'm running an i5 2500k with 8GB system memory and a HD 6850 at 1280x720 (720p) and I'm getting a steady 60fps at medium settings. One person I run with has a HD 7950 with an i7 ivy bridge CPU and he plays on max settings with no slowdown. Try different settings out and see what works and make sure your video drivers are up to date as well. Sometimes you can forget about that.

If you are looking for a nice utility to update all of your drivers, even those hard to find system level drivers, I would recommend IObit's Driver Booster. It is free, unlike Driver Detective, and very simple to use. I used this just before the last patch and noticed a FPS boost afterwards. Not sure if that is the result of the patch or updating those system level drivers. But either way, it doesn't hurt.
