I've seen some good ideas regarding 3PV (like disabling it after 25 games, I really like that)
I also like having it available in Training Grounds.
However.. as those won't probably come to fruition...here's another idea that probably won't come to fruition:
Have the little marker drone above your head able to be targeted for dropping missiles on the person hiding behind the hill/building/etc...
Disadvantage for using 3PV? Absolutely.
(We can discuss whether the drone targeting goes through ECM or not...)
Thoughts?

If nothing else, it's a good lead for dumb-firing LRMs. Aim slightly below it and you'll pop the head!

there is already a disadvantage to using 3pv, il list them:
1) aiming is floaty
2) disabling of mini map, this is such a HUGE downside it almost is a deal breaker
3) if you back up into a building the camera gets all funky
honestly people give it a chance before trying to nerf it into the ground.

3PV has forced arm lock, which is detrimental in brawling, particularly in Mediums, Lights, and Faster Heavies., the drone blinks, making the player easy to notice, its more difficult to aim, the view gets messed up when right up to cover.. you lose the radar...

There's certainly a lot of draw backs.
If the delay in switching between them was longer and switched you to an analog "fuzz" ala old style TV's for several seconds it would be better.
If 3PV was a free module and you had to choose to equip it before other modules it would be MUCH better.
The largest issue is that you can freely and quickly switch view modes. Nerf that with a few other draw backs (like making it a modules) and I'll call it fine.
What actually makes me angry isn't 3PV in the game it is the blatant lies told about separate queues to keep the community fervor down. I loath being outright lied to.

3rd person view disables ECM protection/ lights you up for LRMS and makes pop-sniping in 3rd person a really bad idea?
love it.

Derrpy, Gun... you do realize the "drawbacks" are only while the 3pv is active, right? you can switch freely.
zomg 3pv sucks for brawling... guess I should hit f4.
hmm I wanna look over this hill, but I don't wanna get shot...guess I better hit f4...
you might have had a case if it wasn't a toggle.
Imo, PGI made a very shortsighted decision. I haven't even downloaded the patch yet, I'm still downloading other games first, but I know if/when I do, my jumping PPC/Gauss Victor that doesn't care about arm lock is going to be that much more annoying.
