I seriously doubt they compete with the UAC/5 15% jam edition.

I've had multiple games go over 600 damage with an LBX 2xLLas Dragon 1C with an XL 300 now, and haven't played in almost 2 weeks. The huge tightening of spread makes them fairly effective to about 500m on anything bigger than a Cicada, with 300m range to get all 10 on any decent sized CT, with an amazing ability to finish people with crits.

The one I just finished, 777 damage, 2 kills, 8 assists.

I appreciate your numbers but I would point out how much better you would do if you dropped the LB down do a UAC5 and moved the LLs to PPCs (or even kept them and replaced the LB with something heavier). 777 damage is nice but you spread it around instead of punching through one spot.

EDIT: My response isn't an advocation of the current cheese meta but rather just pointing out that the LB spread is really detrimental to its effect.

You also lose your chance to finish stripping the armor off of the CT with a laser shot and blow internals sky high with an LBX shot immediately after. Also, a PPC and UAC5's just don't work as well against small fast stuff doing the midget death dance.

It's a midrange support build, and unlike the PUG games I got those numbers from, normally I'm dropping with other guys, and this Dragon loadout is designed to make sure they've got some cover for their assaults. If I want to snipe, I DO have another variant loaded for that.

You can drop an LB 10-X for an AC/10 still, but the reduction to spread in such a way (finally) was good. I haven't tested it myself yet. It would be interesting if they are able to program the proximity burst shell idea's though.

At this point, I will humbly request:

PGI please let us test new damage numbers for LB 10-X starting with incremental adjustments either at 1.1 or 1.2 and lower the cooldown of AC/10 only. From there its just a matter of incrementing the damage as needed for the LB-X pellets from further public testing.

They are alot better now. I started off by doing some testing and you can reliably hit with all pellets out to about 300m now and at 150m you can actually group all the pellets on a single section of an enemy mech like the CT or Side Toroso. Still don't know if it is enough to make them as good as the other options available for around the same weight though.

And for some reason they are slowly making them into the phenomenal LB-X guns from MW:LL instead of just going ahead and making them exactly as those... Perhaps to avoid an LB-X meta? But who cares really? Would one rather get killed by PPC+Gauss? or an OP Sniper LB-X w/ Bonus Damage Gun?

If memory serves the LB is better suited to damage and destroy internal components and not so much against armor due to the crit bonuses.

Played one testing grounds match in my lbx Dragon.

It was noticeably improved. Before the patch its effective range topped out at around 250 meters with only a couple of pellets hitting past that. Now it seems to be effective to about 400 meters on most mechs and still capable of doing significant damage out to 550 or so.

Also, damage grouping is limited to one or two locations out to 200 meters now, which is a big improvement.

LBX has 10 chances to crit, where other weapons only have 1... seems legit.

The spread reduction was great, but I still favor giving them 1.5 damage per pellet to give them an actual edge over the standard AC10 when used properly while still letting the AC10 have its own place in the game.

VERY slow engine, only 3 tons of ammo. I'd say it's not worth the effort.

Yeah, I think if you want two, you want a Jager. With SRMs.

I played with it in the testing grounds and while the spread is tighter I think the other options are still better. At about 500m, inside the LB listed optimal range, I dumped 45 rounds into an Atlas and yellowed its armor. At least 6 of those shots didn't connect any pellets to CT and my reticule was dead center. In comparison I took the AC10 and did the same test at about 700m, listed optimal is 450m, and stripped the CT armor in about 16 shots I think.

How it is now, while better than before, it still feels like a secondary gamble weapon that you hope will get a lucky crit or hit, At 11 tons just for the gun I feel that is too much of an investment for its current state. Some people might enjoy it more, but personally I can't get behind the idea.

Exactly, which is why I've suggested PGI first try 1.2 Damage Pellets and increase if necessary and reduce the spread more if necessary.

Then all that's needed is to give the AC/10 a faster cool down, and VOILA BALANCE.

Neat, Ain't it!

if your accurate with ballistics, its good for light hunting. or if you are using it as a finishing move on a target that has its armor removed it does a great job creating criticals, but you cant rely on it to tear other mechs apart on its own or in pairs. you are much better off bringing a srm 6, or several for that much tonnage
