Its absolutely futile for them to try handling every terrain bump/item taller than the smallest mech on a case by case basis, how do they even come up with these ideas with a straight face?

Thanks for the effort to put this together, Monky! Ray-tracing errors, huh? Well, there's undoubtly a serious error around here, but it's definitely not the ray-tracing...

Unless we get those 1PV queues before my premium time expires (which is in less than a week), I'm done playing until the Phoenix Package arrives.

THE GAME IS BROKEN ENOUGH WITH THE OVERLY COMPLEX MECHANICS. DON'T F*** IT UP EVEN MORE WITH SOMETHING YOUR PLAYERS EXPLICITLY SAID THEY DIDN'T WANT!

This is what I'm getting as I look at the pictures:


When you peek over buildings with your drone, the enemy sees your drone.

When you peek around sides of cover with your drone, the enemy sees your drone.


So I'm still completely lost, what exactly is the problem?

A drone is useful for knowing where one person is when you see it, you don't know what they are, where they're headed, and it can pop up for literally a second or two.

What the drone does in this time is spot an entire team or flank, sees their direction, what mechs they are, if you're good what loadouts they're carrying.

It's not something you're going to understand as a risk to gameplay balance unless you're the kind of person who plays to win and with coordinated groups, but this essentially lets one person, without risk to themselves, spot the entire enemy team. This is an incredibly bad gameplay feature for that alone.

If you're johnny pug you might not have to worry too much until 4 mans start using it, then you can expect them to steamroll your team because they'll already have identified the way your team is moving and all you saw was a red dot. They will swing to the weak flank and start annihilating mechs. Previously, it was a gamble to move a group to one flank and scouts at least had to risk getting potshot.

oh? why dont you guys "dominate the metagame" with 3PV then and show PGI how OP it is and why it needs to be removed instead of posting pictures of what Paul clearly stated was a bug?

What Paul said was a bug is the situation where you're next to an object that should normally force the camera in, but by looking all the way to your feet you suddenly get the camera all the way back. The screenshots I posted (and you can test them yourself) are not examples of this bug.

ahh thank you for clarifying. I guess you have been able to use 3PV successfully to jumpsnipe and target enemeies and hit them easier than in 1PV only as well? Maybe some videos showing this would be helpful to directing how massively OP 3PV is.

I'm working on it now, I had tested jumpsniping last night and was able to identify a few cataphracts on Tourmaline and effectively jumpsnipe them w/o anyone spotting them for me or having to have face contact to know where they would be. Need to get a good video service, if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.

With all the image altering effects like blur and film grain that can't be disabled, I admire your perception and ability to notice a tiny red light over 300m away.
With sarcasm out of the way, you've absolutely no clue what you're talking about.

Just do Youtube first and then try other places as you get suggestions.

Asbolutely. Any issues like significant ability to jumpsnipe & remain untouchable in 3PV could be an issue and finding those exploits now is really important.
