This is not a exactly patch issue, but it is somewhat releated. I often see ppl disconecting in the first few secounds of a game, but rarely after that. And I was thinking about why. I found a few possible reasons. (I'm unable to use enter in this forum for some reason). - 1: There are conectivity issues that only appears in the first few secounds of a game. - 2: PPL are C-Bill harvesting. When one have several mechs it is possible to start a game, and then jump out. The mech will still be ingame, and the player will recive revards for that round. By doing this with all mechs in the bay, one player can have, in theory, a unlimited amounts of active games, without playing actively. I did a test myself, and this actually works, even if the waiting time is longer with 16 players. - I sugest you look into this, an if this is the case you should have a minimum time of active gaming before a player is revarded.

This is one of the arguments I had against nerfing the C-bill rewards, that people would just pop out of a game and move to the next match because there isn't as much difference now between participating and not, especially if you can have multiple mechs in matches at the same time. However, I believe I read somewhere that PGI is able to determine if someone is intentionally quitting a match early and has an appropriate countermeasure for it. If they disconnect in the first few seconds, I'd wager it is a connectivity issue, though, as I know this from my own experience...match boots up, mech diagnostics boot up, hit 0 to start moving, then it disconnects. Comcast is not the greatest connection for gaming...

If you disconnect early in the match you get no reward.
A similar issue was well known during the repair and re-arm era.
They made sure to stop the abusers.
Also, people do crash from time to time which results in early disconnects.

I can confirm, though, that you still get XP and C-bills if you disconnect due to a game/client crash, even if you did not have time to contribute to the match. I'd rather be able to contribute to and enjoy the match, though...
