192 Maps Until The End Of This Year

I will tell you how it will happen ......
At the moment we have 4 different maps
CAUSTIC VALLEY, RIVER CITY, FROZEN CITY, FOREST COLONY
and additionally we have allready the new and exiting maps
Frozen City Night, Forrest Colony Winter and River City Night
so all together we allready have 8 maps
Soon we wil have 2 more maps Alpine and Desert something
That means : in just 1 or 2 months we will have 10 maps allready !!
YEAH !!!
But how could we have 192 uniqe and different maps by the end of this year ?
It is easier than you might think :
so we have 6 basic maps
we combine it with opposite time of day --> day or night
x opposite time of year summer/winter
+ the soon to be annonced exiting brand new settings
6 In The Morning, 12 O´Clock High Noon, 18 And Going, 24 Hours - Ghost Time
AAANNNND yes we will also get some special event settings like
.....(rising drum roll here)
Teatime
and (the one i like the most)
5 Minutes Before Your Favorite Movie Starts On TV
not to forget
Spring In The MWO Universe
and what would be spring without autumn ?
yea right .... so we will get Autumn too
YEAH !!!
Yes some of them might look like they maybe could be somehow close to an allready existing map
And maybe some of them could possibly make not much sense (like autum teatime on caustic) but try to see the posive side of it :
First : No strange alien worlds ... Yes its all somehow earth .. so there is absolutly zero need to adapt to new unnecessary and confusing things like :
any other colors than dark brown or washed out green, different gravity or extreme temperatures, acid rain, hot or cold lakes --acid or not, no need to fear getting down in deep water, extreme wind conditions and flying rocks or any of the other million different conditions a universe full of possible maplocations has to offer
and second ( and even more important)
LESS Time to create them ..... they can be implemented within only a few weeks instead of months ... HURRAY !
(I have heard from an inside source that the creating and testing of "Forrest Colony 24 Hours - Gohst Time" will take less than 3 weeks after they have finished "Forrest Colony Night")
So lets do the math together :
6 maps
x 8 ( Day/Night/6 In The Morning/12 O´Clock High Noon/18 And Going/24 Hours - Gohst Time/Teamtime/5 minutes before your favorite movie starts on tv )
x 4 (spring/summer/autum/winter)
= 6 x 8 x 4 = Fantastic 192 totally different maps
GREAT !!!
and Hurray for so much inovation !!!!

He has a better point than that fanboyish waste you call your opinion. This game needs maps and it is hilarious that the devs arent able to deliver.
I played 300 games so far and im bored out of my mind... if you are not, than you have to be a slow thinker.

QFT. As lame as things like RCN and FCW are, they do play WAY different then their orginal settings. FCW has increased heat disapation and an enitre path way is blocked off, and the darkness of RCN makes vision modes way more important.

Yeah 4 maps are enough. Id tell myself the same if i had paid 120$ for an alpha.
This is not a game, its more a tech demo. No functioning Netcode, no endgame content, no faction warfare and the talent trees are useless compared to the planned ones. It wouldnt matter as much, when the rest of the content would be existant. But 4 maps is not much to go on. This "game" is nothing more then a pokemon game. You have to catch all mechs and play with them on 4 maps.
Maybe enough for simple minded people who can laugh about the same jokes over and over. But nothing for the average or intelligent player, who needs more stimulous than a pokemon game can deliver.

At what point did he try to defend PGI? All I saw was "Congratz on wasting everyone's time with this thread".
Also. Only 300? ***** please, I got that many per reset in CB, and on LESS maps too. you have nothing to complain about.
EDIT: you mad.

No no no, that just means you're a slow thinker because you keep playing and enjoying a game that's clearly beneath his station.

Below his station? What is this, a monarchy? If so, then he's the Duke of Pis Soff

Your house?
I mean hell. Maps take a long time to make. Sightlines need to be checked and tweaked, geometry needs to be lined up right, textures applied right side up. Stuff like that takes time, and the map making team is small.

fair well man.
i see no one here defending PGI for the lack of maps...
we should have got way more maps than what we have now... and it's been stated many times. experience shows that our moaning (or even suggestions) have no effect on PGI's decisions.
so we kinda like enjoying a free tech demo and practicing some good battle plans.

LoL, no it doesn't. I've made a map for Day of Defeat that was bigger than these which had a lot more content in it. Destructible walls and windows, moving doors, cap points that were destroyed to cap in combination with flag caps. Buildings that you could all go into and underground passages as well as triggered effects like planes flying over head. There was even a radio that called in a bomber that bombed a field.
It took just me one month and I had never done anything like it before so I was looking stuff up and learning as I went.
These maps we have are bare bones static maps with no life to them (except for the skymap). It should take a "professional" designer a week. Two weeks tops.

300 games times 10 minutes average per game equils to 50 hours of gametime. And thats not even taking the mechbay custimisation in account. So you played this free game more then most singleplayer games can entertain you on average and almost as much as a multiplayer can entertain you in such a short time.

IT IS NOT FUNNY !!!
In fact it is very serious
Lets have a look at the situation :
- it is a free to play game
- but PGI needs players who are willing to pay for this game
right so far ?
Lets go on
Planned features for this year :
- 12 man Teams
- Community Warfare ... THE MAIN CONTENT FOR THIS GAME
now lets see what we have right now
4 small, earthlike maps
4 maps that are even to small for 8 player teams on each side
.... or have anyone of you never been out of bounds while fighting for a conquest point ?
now imagine that with 8 more players
in 1 or maybe 2 months we will have 6 different maps
.... and if we have a look on how fast new maps are delivered it will be 6 maps for a few more months
yes i think it is not funny and will not be funny to have 1 map per Faction in Warfare
The Mapvariations are not funny too .... in fact i think it is a bad joke
Light on or Light off is not a very difficult thing in the Cryengine i think
All maps are earthlike .... even 1995 release mechwarrior 2 had more variations
..... for those who do not know it .. i remember earthlike, under water, on moon, on asteriod .. i think a part even within a dropship ( not sure anymore about the last one )
Now lets have a look at a possible counter argument
Quality over Quantity ...
sorry guys again you are right .. it is not very funny when your 80 tons, fusion reactor powered armed to win a war fighting machine gets stuck on every damn garden fence and every sidewalk border turns out to be invincible obstacle ( hello river city )
Lets go back to the beginning of my reply
- it is a free to play game
- but PGI needs players who are willing to pay for this game
Do you honestly think there will be enought people playing this game who are willing to pay for the
absence of fundamental content ?
Just as a hint
Ignoring a problem does not solve it
Edit: as a respose to the last post
Levels take a 7 man Team 3-4 months before testing
Yes, i saw the improvements on the maps during the patches ... waterfall in a cave, wet looking stone on the ground etc.
But honestly i think just using a random map genarator andreleasing 30 unpolished maps every week and keeping and improving the 1 or 2 most liked of them would be a better way.
.... placement of trees and building is pointless ... back in Mechwarrior 3 I could destroy houses by simply walking through them, in Mechwarrior 4 i could destroy trees and cars ... in MWO with the modern day Cryengine it seems to be losttech .... so random places rocks will do the same job
Or does anyone of you realy does not feel like instantly quitting when river city night starts the 6th time in a row ?
