For Those Who Want 3Pv

I am not trying to start a flame war, I would just really like to hear the reasons behind that point of view.

I have been on them, believe me, but I am not seeing any reasons from the 3PV crowd as to WHY they would prefer 3PV over 1PV, or why they chose a 1PV game to play in the first place.
I am hoping this thread can be for those people to explain those reasons without having the "why NOT to have 3PV" conversations mixed in, as I HAVE seen the reasons behind their arguments.

Are we to assume that those in favor of 3PV have NO reasons to support their arguments?

The "3PV crowd" that PGI is trying to cater to is not playing the game yet, let alone browsing the forum. It's all about getting "a wider audience".
I did see some random dude on Facebook saying something like "I won't play it if it doesn't have 3rd person view" on MWO fans page. Not sure about his history with MW though, could be a Mech Assault fan lol.

They have done so, way back. Why would you expect them to do it again? Just because you asked?
Get a grip dude. This is a done deal and just more "goading" of those, who do prefer it, is going to change anything.
How about that Seismic Module eh!

I can appreciate your sentiment, but there were apparently 100 or so players who do play and did vote for it in the polls. Those are the people I am curious to hear.

Huh, so those 100s of hours playing mw3 and 4 online was out of desperation apparently...good to know!
As for reasons for third person, because variety is the spice of life. Adding more features to a game without detracting from others does nothing to me. If I want to play third, yay new features. If I don't want to play 3rd, yay new features that I can avoid if I want to!

Quite the opposite, actually. There have been no posts stating the pros of 3PV AS A FEATURE. They have all been defensive in nature. I am hoping to give them the space here to point out the positives of the feature they seem to want. No goading.
Perhaps YOU would like to break the ice?

As much as I agree with you, I would ask that we let the pro-3PV crowd have this space to put forth their arguments unobstructed. We have many other threads for debating, the intention of THIS thread is to try and understand the 3PV opinion. (because most of us don't, frankly).

And all of those games were single player with optional multiplayer. You can't really compare the old titles to MWO.
All of those gamers were multiplayer with optional single player. See I can play that game too.

I see what you did there, but lets continue down that alley.
The vast majority of players stuck with singleplayer, and a tiny minority chose to have a go at multiplayer. The graphics and actual gameplay doesn't even in the slightest compare to MWO.
Here, the vast majority (of vocal players) argue against 3pv (for competitive/gameplay reasons), and a small (non-existent) minority argue for 3pv (for.. whatever reasons).
That said, I don't much care whether 3pv is there or not, I just don't see the point in having it. I see the point in not having it.

How many multiplayer only games were there in 1998? Quake and Unreal (just checked, even THOSE had single player)? How many people played Half-life for multiplayer? Hell, counter-strike didn't even come out til a year later.
Broadband was barely a twinkle in the eye of many people that far back. I know I was lucky my parents understood that computers were going to be the thing to know and gave us updated stuff, internet connection, etc. I can't actually recall ever having a dial-up connection, but if you did it was incredibly difficult to play online.
Different times.
And if you don't care if there's 3pv, why not have it for those who do? Not caring isn't a very good reason to NOT do something.

Please do not devolve the thread. It is in the title... For those who want 3PV.
If you cannot give a reason for it (and neither of you have), please be content to READ the content without cluttering the thread.
