PGI,

You told us there would be no 3PV. You went back on that and at one point said there were significant numbers of players who wanted 3PV.

If that is true, then why aren't your forums, facebook, and twitter flooded with gratitude for adding the feature?

On the contrary, your forums, facebook, and twitter are flooded with hate and discontent. Contrary to what you may think, this vitriol will not go away unless your core players go away. Nevermind the terrible PR you're getting.

The PGI champion of this idea needs to come to terms with the reality that your player base does not like it.

We don't want this half baked 3pv {Scrap}.

Sincerely,

a guy regretting his day 1 purchase of the overlord phoenix package

I like it! Pretty much for vanity.

I also don't get what all the hubbub is about. It's not all that bad, it's pretty balanced. My only problem with it is that the transition time is too short, leading to that potential for exploitation that everyone is so scared about. Which I understand, I just don't really see it as that big an issue if someone can see me over a hill.

Its a huge damn issue. Let me try to explain.

Previously, you didn't know what was over the hill. To find out, you had to peek. If the opponent had strategically set up a firing line to watch a hill or corner, peeking might get you killed or seriously damaged.

With 3PV, you can see, "Oh those guys are waiting to ambush me, I'm not going over the hill."

Get a CTF-3D, sit behind a hill peeking over. Wait for a bad guy to come into the open. Switch to 1PV so you can aim perfectly, jump jet up, fire PPCs, fall behind the rock and cool down.

Scout mechs, instead of having to physically poke their little bodies out while using speed to avoid fire, can now use speed to move from cover to cover. 3pv drone allows them to watch and relay information back to their team without risking themselves.

You've just reduced the risk/reward of tactical play. This is the same reason I only played Mechwarrior 4 for a very short period of time.

And in doing that you show a nice blinking light to the other team which then thinks "Oh those guys are waiting to ambush me, I'm not going over the hill."

3pv I see all of you, what type mechs, weapon loadout, direction speed, formation etc...I can relay this to my team, who can be anywhere, and are not anywhere near my little red drone duh!

you see a blinking drone, you know some type of mech is under the blinking drone, that is if you even noticed the drone. that is all you know, and if you are in 1pv, you may not even see the drone.

I doubt players who think 3pv does nada will notice the red blinking drone anyways, they are to busy looking for a red triangle, which they will almost always fail to target lol.

BTW, most of the White knights seem to have steiner tags, I wonder why.

Maybe because our scout lances weight 370 tons and we couldn't give a rat's arse about anyone seeing us, because they'll run the other direction anyways? :D

Approaching the ridge in Frozen City became a lot less dangerous.
