Damnit.. Ive had dual LBX10's on my DDc for 10 months!! 10 months I tell ya!! None of you know the pain and hardship I went through.. The sleepless nights remembering the 'Oh so nearly' moments.. Now the damn things are half decent they shall be everywhere and I shall have no more moments of 'shot you with my funkhuge gun that clearly will never ever kill you' rage to reminisce over. :D

Had some fun last night in a Jaeger. Setup
Right Side
1 AC20
1 Medium Laser

Left Side
1 LBX10
2 SRM4
1 Medium laser

Made a good one, two punch.

That's pretty similar to one of my builds. The two guns pair well for stripping armor quickly and opening all those nice crit slots up for lbx attacks. And the lasers just keep the heat on...in both senses.

I had some high damage, high kill matches in my dual lbx jaeger last night as well.

The gun works surprisingly well now in my experience. Especially when hunting wounded ducks. It seems to mangle internals rather admirably.

My best round with it last night was 4 kills, 700+ damage.

dual lbx +4 med lasers

Same build on my K2.
Can easily do a couple kills and 400 damage if I don't go all suicidal or my PUGs do fairly well. Best round was 6 kills, 5 assists and 1050ish damage. That's enough to convince a friend to buy the Cat-K2, although he can use Jagers.

Even if not impressive against unharmed targets, it's pretty good for those without armor left = kill "steal"! Also good to scare people away (it sounds more awesome than it is) or damage a fast mover with its spread.

Just hope they won't nerf just because there are more people using it now.

I been using it a bit before;after and will say the improvement is marvelous the spread seems just right now.
Decrease the cooldown a bit throw in 5 more ammo/ton (to improve weight effeciency/missed pellets) and i think its where it should be.

The more they tighten the spread on the LB10X, the more it defeats the purpose of the weapon. They are CLUSTER rounds. They are supposed to hit nearly every location on a mech, find holes in the armor, and crit components. The AC/10 and LB10X should be fundamentally different weapons and tightening the spread on the LB10X just makes it more like the AC/10. Once again PGI is going the wrong direction in balancing weapons.

1) LB10X should have a fairly wide spread so it hits almost every location on a mech

2) LB10X should fire in a cylinder pattern rather than a cone pattern so its accuracy doesnt degrade at range

3) LB10X should do more damage per pellet and pellets should have a higher critical damage multiplier

4) LB10X should be able to switch between cluster and slug rounds but should fire slug rounds slower
than the AC/10 so the AC/10 remains viable (the AC/10 should also be able to use ammo types the LB10X cant)

And thats how you fix the LB10X... Fixing the AC/10 is a topic for another thread.

While I agree in principle, this kind of damage is less useful in an FPS than focused damage. What an LB10-X offers than an AC10 can't offer, if given a very tight cone of fire, is more chances at a crit while allowing similar damage levels with some spread.

Not if internals are increased. The problem now is that focused damage kills mechs so fast that critting isnt even worthwhile.

ac/10 isnt that great either, and the lbx10 is it's counterpart.

we need the LBX20 and gauge that vs ac/20 and then revisit these guns to see how they pair/matchup.

Have to respectfully disagree about the ac/10. I was stinking it up with Yen Lo Wang when I first bought it, it quickly gathered dust in its bay. About a month ago I switched the 20 out for a 10, used the weight for more productive things, and the Yen Lo has become one of my go-to mechs, regularly putting up 700-800 damage and bullseyeing flying Spiders. The LB-X is good if used properly, it's a finisher. You hang around the assault mechs and wait for them to lay open someone's armor, then the LBX guy goes in and shreds the victim in about 3 seconds (Ilya with 3 of em works well for this).

I have the exact opposite story with black jacks (not to mention the jaeger), tried AC10 with low result 1 K/D, Dam 200 avg. put AC20 in there and suddenly i could pop lights, mediums and occasionally damaged heavies.
Not to highjack the thread but the AC10 is somewhere there in the middle of everything (except for weight) its quite balanced and therefor a bit lackluster, you don´t have enough upfront punch to fast kill of medium, headshot or take out a damaged section; its dps/ton is low (12 ton + 3 ton ammo, 4.0/15 ) and its heat is not low enough to use effeciently with high level of energy weapons/missiles.
Maybe the centurion works well with it, but then i think its because there just is a sweet spot with tons and hardpoints.
