The solution is simple: Limit 3rd Person View to Testing/Training Grounds only.

The solution above will satisfy the requirements for the new user experience (players to use 3PV to get a feel for the 'Mech and its controls) while keeping the game competitive for the e-sports community and keeping true to the MechWarrior experience, which is strictly 1PV. This is the ultimate compromise!

Please vote to tell PGI what you want. Thanks!

testing/training/private matches optional on.

otherwise 1PV should be the default. splitting the community doesnt seem to be a great idea.

Yeah, not a fan of splitting up the community to introduce a "feature" that only a small percentage of people want. I honestly think it needs to be in training grounds only.

But it looks like it's here to stay, so splitting up the queues is the only way they can do it without losing a lot of their players. It sucks.

I'm afraid PGI has already nixed this approach. They want 3PV to be viable in typical matches, allegedly for the sake of impatient noobs unwilling to invest the time in figuring out the controls.

Which begs the question: if the primary purpose for adding 3PV is to help noobs figure out where their legs are pointing, why was the camera in the public test carefully positioned to exclude them?

I still think this should be done, limit 3PV to training and testing grounds only.

i think this is a decent option that maintains the primary function of 3pv.

although from what i have seen i am not very concerned. with a little tweaking i think any advantages it confers to gameplay could be easily eliminated.

Here is a secret:

Pgi does not give one single **** about any of our suggestions or opinions here. This forum serves zero purpose.

While I do not see the need for the use of 3rd person. I have tested it against FP. Having played third person in MW4, I figured this would be a breeze. No, Out of 75 games my scores were higher in first person than in third. I will be redoing the test today but I no longer see the third person as a problem, in fact its a bust game wise. It was the fairest 3rd person they could come up with.

Yes yes good good but now that it has been introduced how do you stop people from hacking mwo to take advantage of 3pv in normal games?
