What the good PvP games have and drives them, are good stats. We need a better stat engine. I also look forward to seeing what we fight for - but that aside, it is much better and interseting when you can see your sorties, and what you did on each one.
I could see this as a match-based stat. You did X amount of damage, kills, assists, etc. But then also see who you killed, killed out, etc. It would be a history, and you could even see your lifetime stats vs a specific opponent. Even better - see your stats in Mech X vs mech type Y. so lifetime, you can see how you do in your BlackJAck vs another mech type - or even a table to see your Mech A vs all other types.
These stats would also have to tie to some kind of leaderboards with different catagories. Kill leaders, k:d ration leaders, damage leaders, top capers, etc.
I am not sure what all stats we can come up with that are relevant, but the point is that the stats can provide a much richer experience, and motivate the player base.
As it is now, your stats are pretty private, and we have no way to really tell how good or bad we are, nor do we have well defined roles or other ways to score the mechs vs each other. The way we score a spider is the same way we score an atlas (from a tournament standpoint, which is our only periodic leaderboard), and given they should be doing different things, scoring them the same isnt really fair, even if they are only competing with their perspective classes....it turns everyone into kill stealers, as that is the most valuable score item in the equation.
