Another piece of feedback... I really think the rewards for assists needs to be modified since it rewards people that do not play for the team but instead spreads damage around trying to hit every mech in the opposing team. I would suggest instead that you introduce a new scout-reward for the lights: the ping. Make it so that the first time an enemy mech is targeted it automatically sends a ping on the map marking the position for a few seconds and sends a reward to the mech that made the target. That way scouts would get a reward for doing the scouting, in addition to the already existing spotting reward, but that's different. NB, this ping reward would be payed out only the first time per game that a mech is spotted to reward finding the reds. It would also make it visually more comprehensive with the ping... :D

Yeah, I 100% agree, the match rewards need to be changed substantially to emphasize teamwork more, and the lowering of rewards from conquest matches was not the right way to go.

What needs to be done first and foremost is increase the rewards for capturing points and scouting (eg. spotting targets) more substantial. We don't need to lower the cbill rewards for damage and stuff, but we need to balance the rewards more fairly.

At this point in the game, unless you're playing with several scouts in a lance, you're wasting your time. That, combined with the lack of variety in the lights is crippling the light-dedicated players who want to be competitive and contributing members of a team.

So in summary what needs to be done in terms of rewards is as follows;

1) Equalized rewards. The Cbill reward nerf for resource collection needs to be reversed, as well as matching up spotting, scouting (like Duke Nedo suggested, a first time spot reward would be great) and capping.
2) More options for lights and fast mediums. We need to be able to first-time spot targets methinks.
3) More lights! Seriously, we've got like, 4 light 'mech chassis, as opposed to 5-6 Medium, Heavy, and Assault 'mech chassis. Not to mention the Lights we do have only have 3 or so variants. Where's our Flea PGI!??

I think World of Tanks has something similar.
What tends to happen is you get a few people in lights drive straight into the enemy base at the start of the fight to get as many of those 'pings' as possible.
Then they die and go play a different tank until they can do it again next time.
It doesn't really help the team but it is an effective xp boost for the individual player who doesn't care about their team.

The scouts who play well don't get that ping bonus because the suiciders already got the first spot before most players were in a position to do anything about it.

Aye, agreed, but that is another problem that needs another solution imo (also some dps-mechs suicide to get a quickie). For example not allowing a player to join any game in any mech until 6 mechs (50%) of the own team or a total of 8 mechs (33%) have died. Thats probably a more elegant way to do it rather than handing out 0 rewards until the same conditions are met. In any case, I think the designers need to take on the thinking-hat! :P

As for capping rewards, it would be nice to have those paid out per second spent capping on conquest maps instead of some flat value. Not so sure about assault maps, the flat value is prolly fine there.

Well the 2 game modes were hashed out in a 2 min toilet break , why would you assume they spent any time on the rewards system /? .
