1) Try not to be the focus of battle in a medium. Always be the 2nd mech to engage the same target. Life expectancy will increase (sure it applies to combat in general, but for mediums, it's the only real way to succeed, generally).
2) If you're making a "left turn" at the corner, your "hunch" will be WELL EXPOSED long before you can see the enemy shooting at you. If you have to make a left turn, let someone get go ahead of you.
3) If you're using a teammate as a "shield", be on the LEFT SIDE of them. That way, your hunch is protected better.
Otherwise.... you're probably using it wrong.

You have to be fast, and keep ducking behind cover (or team mates lol) dont use it as a brawler, use it as that pesky mech that jumps out of cover, shoots you, then runs away again, then comes back again when your not looking.
You should mount a big engine in it, make sure its fast.
Its also great as a light hunter due to its (even more so now) awesome agility and its speed makes it good for rushing a base, or going back to defend yours.
Basically just dont try to fight anything in an honest way, you gotta be a sneaky backstabber!!!!

my 3x Flamer Commando still Track a fearsome Reputation as the most hated thing in the battlefield, after a whole year it's unsurpassed even by the most deadly cheese raven and spider days...
I mean how dangerous it's a commando with 3x Flamer to draw the focus of up to 6 PPL in a frozen city match?

It couldn't fight it's way out of a paper bag.
And I am a Spider Ninja!, this mechs needs 2 Energy hard points in the torsos
Commando's at least have moxy! Even the worst commando the Death Knell has 4 energy hardpoints which means a ER PPC and 3 mediums.

Mediums are fast. That does not mean they should be in front of an assault. Let the big guys take the heat first, then engage.
People in general seem to have tunnel vision. If you're the first thing they see, they will keep shooting you until one of three things happen:
- You die.
- They die.
- Someone blocks their line of sight with something so large they can't help but see it.
Use this to your advantage, in a medium mech, or die. Lots.

Oh look! RABBITS!
I'll have to try 4 x flamers in my TDK, see if that improves it's evil powers of awesome invincibility.

I could see if the 5V came with ECM instead of the 5D.
I'll bought it and sold it 3 times, I'll pick up again and give it a whirl again, but yeah it's bunko.

just got the G variant it is really fun to play you just must not be the first line of attack... as a flanker or second line of attack this is however great mech
worst mech is for me Dragon-1N... there is nothing that decently works (maybe except the boring gauss/ppc)
also kintaro is not very good coz of its assault size... damn i had a fight where i had the hunch and was already pretty damaged when kintaro poped on me and i was like **** a victor until ID popped and showed kintaro on which each shot was even ct

I have my best games in my Hunchbacks if I find an Assault and shadow them. Sometimes I'll tell them in team chat, "I've got you're back", or "I'm with you". Then follow along behind and slightly beside them. Shoot at what they are shooting at. Turn and fight off any light mechs that try and attack your big buddy. Lights are drawn to Assaults, because they know they can't turn or maneuver, so help your buddy out. A solo Assault is a dead man walking.
Don't stick your neck out first, and never, never be the first mech over a ridge or start of a "push". Wait for the Assaults on your team to go first, and then FOLLOW them over that ridge. They need your support.
A properly configured Hunchback has some VERY serious firepower. More than most other mechs, even more than some Assaults. What you don't have is armor. At least not like an Assault does. You can throw a very serious punch, you just can't take a big hit very well.
Watch your heat! Most Hunchbacks run hot, especially the -P all energy variant. At least mine do. Watch your shot cadence, and key bind your weapon groups so you can still fire small groups if you get hot. If you're shutting down from heat in a Hunchback, you're dead.
I don't run fast engines in mine, because my play style is to follow along the biggest, slowest mechs in game. So, I don't have to be fast. I run max armor though.
Also, reallocate your hunch armor to max front. Your rear side torso is very small on the hunch side, so take the rear armor down to 2 or 4, and put all the rest of that allocation on the front right side torso. Your hunch will last longer. Most games, I come out with my hunch still intact since doing that.
I like the Hunchbacks. They are my favorite medium.

Mediums are fast, but nearly fast enough. Jags, Dragons, Victors, Quickdraws, Awesomes can all keep pace with a Hunchback. Even if the Hunchback can go 5-10 kph faster, that's not fast enough to put distance between you and them before they put a hurt on you.
Medium mechs are worse off in 12v12 than they were in 8v8....more heavies, more assaults, more spiders in every match to rip your hunch off.
