You were laughing at me last night for rocking the Cicada 3C with an AC/10 as my only weapon (running an XL300). I don't remember your name, and I'm not sure if I sent the friend invite to the right person after the match ended. I forgot to screenshot the scoreboard with my 2 kills, 2-3 assists and roughly 300 damage after the round ended with myself and another light/fast medium (I don't remember what they were in) being the last two to die. The third guy who was sitting on the enemy cap shutdown and hoping not to die doesn't count as being "alive", before anyone says anything.

I just want to know if, when you said "AC/10 Cicada, lolololol" (or something like that), you were laughing at my build being terrible, or laughing at my self-admitted terrible build actually being a productive member of the team. >.>


I wouldn't complain if you accepted the friend invite and joined me and some friends in the Comstar TS for some drops either, but I'll understand if you reject it and hope to never drop with me again, too.

I always try out strange builds... not sure I would try that one, but whatever works.

People that laugh at other builds should be careful, when that strange build out performs them I wonder if they feel sufficiently humbled.

I can kind of see where he was coming from though, 4 mlas do 20 damage have no ammo worries and are light enough that the remaining tonnage can be spent on heatsinks.

He was rude and could of been more constructive but just 1 ac10 is gimping yourself and by extension your team.

On my phone so I can't quote at the moment, but... DarkDevilDancer, if you can show me a 3C with 4 ML's, I'm interested. Given the 3C only has 1 energy hardpoint. >.>

Mutaroc, show me a better performing build that's *not* 4 MG's and an ER Large. I tried 2x AC/2's, too hot (unless that has changed since I tried it). 2 AC/5's is doable with a small engine and limited ammo, I ran out too fast.

To clarify, I'm not even sure if the guy was being rude, or if he thought it was as hilarious as I did...

I'm not trying to be rude either. This really is the most effective build I've had yet. For me personally. I can't get MG's to work for me.

To use MGs properly, pretend they are lasers.

They are hitscan weapons, and the bullets you see don't damage, they are only visual.


I've seen an AC40 cicada...you could try that, if it's the right chassis.

I'm a firm believer of two things. 1. Run your mech however you like with whatever build you want, it's your play style not mine. If you ask me for help with your build, I'll assist you in finding a more efficient build along the same lines of your original one, but other than that, whatever.

2. Always always always have at least 1 back up energy weapon, even if it is only a small laser. Once you run out of ammo, and you have no energy backup weapons, you are now useless to the team, and might as well go for the cap, or use yourself as a shield to absorb damage for your teammates. Remember, even a small laser does more damage than zero.

Well if you are anything like me you mastered every good chassis you want weeks ago and are desperately trying every crazy build you can just for something to do until community warfare comes along.

I am using the first win of the day bonus to level up every low tier mech I have left in the bottom of the barrel:

Raven 2X
Raven 4X
Spider 5K
Jenner JR7K
Commando 1D

If you ever spectate me expect to see some weird ****, and never assume you know why someone is running the build they have.

Play the game anyway you want. Unless you are playing league drops with a unit then the only rule is "have fun".

im laughing at that build too. if it preforms bad i laugh, if it preforms well even more to laugh about!!
im currently having alot of fun running a lbx10 cicada with 3 med lasers. it a funny build!

From the animation, it looks like you would have to lead your target, like with other ballistics, when in reality they behave like lasers. The bullets you see is just an animation and not what does the damage. So when firing mg's you should always keep the reticule on the target. Like you do with lasers.

REALLY....?!

I was running a 6xMG Jager and wondering why I was doing so little damage. Now I realise that I was leading targets and probably not hitting them at all.

Emphasis mine. I absolutely agree with the message. Just wanted to point out that if I find myself without weapons (energy weapons can be destroyed, limbs lost, etc) I'll cap or try to get in the way of the enemy, etc. It may not be very useful, but I wouldn't say you're useless to the team. Certainly it's better to have backup weapons and do more damage, but if you find yourself unable to do damage you should still be trying to find ways to help the team (as you pointed out).

I never realized that either. Admittedly, I've run machine guns only a minimal number of times, but that's something I'll have to keep in mind for the future!

I was originally going to say once you run out of weapons, but then thought that, that line of thought went against what I meant and would be misconstrude, so I re-worded my comment, and added in a few words of advise, though I did sound kind of harsh by saying useless, then saying how you only had so many options to NOT be useless XD lol Oh well, as long as the point is understood, then what does the wording matter?

The point of trying to talk to someone is (usually) to communicate an idea - if you get the idea across accurately, everything else is secondary or lower I would think....

Of course now there are always those people who talk at someone rather than with...

Or those who wish only to confound rather than communicate...

I use an Atlas D-DC with a single small laser as the only weapon. It stays cool and never overheats...

Brainless noobs love to make themselves feel better my mocking other players.... Ignore that loser.... all that matter is you have fun with your build and now before cw starts is a better time to experiment when losing is less painful than it hopefully will be later.... It seem like you did pretty well in your match and i guarentee loserboy did look to see how you did because he was afraid he would look like an ***** for mocking you.
