Probably been talked to death for a thousand times, but here it goes

Imagine a chat, where you can see on a glance on which team someone is - without having to look at the scoreboard (or to memorize everyones name)! Crazy, I know, but the possibilities! There could even be some specified color, like, I don't know, maybe yellow and cyan or green and purple! Blue and red would be way off, but if you insisted on that...

Seriously though, why isn't that in already? It shouldn't be that complicated to implement and it would do quite a lot comfort-wise...

In Kill-messages it would be even more helpful, especially in conquest.

I just can't be the only one with that idea, so... is it already planned, but down down the prioritylist? Is the current chatsystem completely unable to recreate this? What's the deal there?

Well, blue is already in use for team chat. It means that message is sent by a team member - and that the message can't be seen by enemy team. I suppose. So, can't use blue for general-chat indication that a teammate (and not one from the enemy team) is talking.

Instead of making general chat being represented by 2 colors (one per team), - which i think would be rather confusing to many people, by the way, - could it possibly be better to just add some symbol, something clearly distinguishable and visible, and probably red in color, - to the beginning of any line spoken by a member of the enemy team? This way, both "our" and "their" messages in general chat would remain white colored, but messages from enemies would clearly stand out.

No, coloring the whole line isn't the way I meant it at all (though I don't blame you for thinking it, wasn't clear on that, I'm afraid)

I thought colorcoding just the nicks themselves with the actual message still in white would do the trick. They did it in World of Tanks and I feel it works wonderfully there (despite what you might think about the game itself). [at least, it did back when I played]

As for the symbol in front of the name, I guess that would be fine too, it works with the lance and company command-symbol already. But I can't think of any symbol to be easily understood for either side.
