I was in a mood, so I threw this together. I have 0% hope of it working, but I feel like I've accomplished something today. Sign away!

Just wait until Hasbro runs HG to the ground to secure the Transformers legacy toys for themselves...

This only calls attention to the only thing they have left, old properties.

I doubt HG will care.

They've been defending rights that they never had in the first place.

They got their rights from tatsunoko (same as twentieth century imports, who liscensed said rights to fasa) ... but the rights they tried to defend vs Fasa are rights that tatsunoko never had; as illustrated by a court case in japan in the early 2000's of tatsunoko vs big west.

HG may have gotten those rights operating in good faith from tatsu; tatsu may have thought they had the rights to give, but ever since said court case, it's pretty much known that tatsu (and thus HG and old fasa via TCI) never had the rights to those images.

HG, however ... is still trying to assert that they have those rights. Basically at this point the only thing stopping HG from getting owned is the fact that it would take seriously deep pockets to litigate the entire chain of cases; and you'd have to litigate in japan too, I suspect, which is a morass as far as who owns what in anime IP's. HG is basically bullying people with court costs at this point.

To be fair, they're also a real estate company.

I don't know, this may backfire, if they see how much we want our classic mechs they'll only see the money that is to be made from them, money they don't want PGI to make
HG is dying and they're doing whatever they can to stay afloat, each lawsuit is an act of desperation

The petition is fail. You credit HG for creating the mechs and forgot that it was Studio Nue that created them to begin with.

... and it's studio NUE that owns the mechs and their visuals. Tatsunoko only holds the rights to the SDF:Macross tv series. They don't own the macross IP.

Big west and NUE own the macross IP.

Knowing the fact Harmony Gold has a guard-dog mentality around the unclaimed Macross designs. I doubt they would look at this petition. Besides, I would rather side with Hasbro to get the Macross Unseens back instead of letting those fools keep them.

But I strongly believe in this. Let them die, it will be better for everyone.

I have a better idea, let's get the help of Catalyst, rally around Hasbro, and drive a stake through the heart of Harmony Gold. That will show' em!

Actually, at this point the costs involved would take something like ... HG ticking off the wrong person in the legal department at microsoft... or disney.

It's going to take some SERIOUSLY deep pockets to litigate this fully, starting stateside and moving into japan and than (GULP) international copywrite law.

Well, ticking people off is exactly what they excel best at. That's the only reason why HG is filing this lawsuit against Hasbro's Jetfire product, for money. We all know that Harmony Gold is crumbling and they needed to cause some kind of rouse to stay alive. They could have gotten on Hasbro a long time ago about this but they didn't, instead they just wanted make a big deal out of it.

But the fact that Harmony Gold is profiting from lawsuits rather than choosing to market reasonable products, irritates me.

Yeah let's all keep pretending Harmony Gold do nothing but sit in their office frantically F5ing the entire internet so they can sue for Comic-con exclusives!

Just pretend the link to their large property business was never posted in this thread so we can keep on telling ourselves that our space robots actually matter in the grand scheme of things.
