Sounds like a network issue, unstable network connection would disconnect you but leave the mech in-game.

what is your typical PING when playing?

Ping alone isn't causing your issue, but you probably have a weak connection overall, either at your local network (your own router & firewall) or your ISP's infrastructure.

Note that the server is in north america so you've got a long way to go to get your packets here.

you can try removing any router you're using and going directly to your modem, and try disabling a firewall or antivirus that may be interfering

Are you saying that your internet connection is provided by tethering your iPhone to your computer?

If so, is your iPhone tethered as a wireless hotspot (do iPhones even do that? I dunno, I have an Android phone) or physically through USB?

If you're using wireless, try tethering through USB instead. If your phone doesn't have the software to do so, or it's blocked by your provider, try using PDANet. If you're using USB already and wireless is an option, try that instead.

If you're already using USB or that doesn't help, is your phone connected through a 4G LTE network? If so, try forcing your phone to use 3G only instead of 4G. You'll have a slower connection, but it will be closer to (but not actually) synchronous.
