Primary Reason not to buy Phoenix - I am not sure this is actually shaping up to be the game I wanted nor a game I would enjoy playing for long.
  • Gamebalance has never been really good, and the recent additions to improve balance are highly questionable and betray that their is a fundamental, systemic problem with how PGI tries to improve its gameplay and game balance.
  • I would prefer a pure 1PV game mode. I don't mind that PGI adds 3PV, just let me choose to not interact with it.
  • Two important design pillars, role warfare and information warfare exist only in token form. (Community Warfare may be important for some, but it's not my priority).

There is of course more, but these I'd consider the biggest things for me.

My main complaint is actually the lack of a decent gamemode. Assault and Conquest are completely boring, lack immersion with the setting, and really just arn't any fun.

If this game had just one decent gamemode that was actually fun to play, I would consider spending money on it again...

If you think that the Blackjack is better than the Centurion that it really is "end of story" lol

Blackjack isn't terrible but it isn't that good either. The best one is the one without JJs.

You're talking about the 1x right? There is another without JJs (1dc), but its torso twist and such is nerfed. On top of that it has the same engine restrictions as the other two that have them. I wouldn't say the 1x is the best. For one reason, even with everything elite on it its torso only twists to 96 degrees. I didnt think it would be to much of a problem, but it can be very annoying considering it uses mostly laser weapons that you have to keep on target to do the most damage, and when you run out of torso movement unexpectedly you have to turn with your legs it throws the laser beam all over the place. That being said I can still kick *** with it, because of its speed+firepower. It is only second best to my ac20 wielding BJ-1. Besides you have to be a bit biased to the faster one since you mostly pilot jenners. :)

I base my opinions on viability/"goodness" of a mech based on demonstrated high-level 12 man (premade queue) success. No BJ other than the 1X has seen any high-level 12 man success because BJs have too little armor and there are superior options in the (already weak) medium class. The 1x has only seen LIMITED success in light drops where it tries to medium laser alpha like crazy for about 30-45 seconds before it gets killed. Hopefully in that time they have legged a light or two. Still a risky strategy considering you could have chosen a Centurion. I have never seen a BJ other than the 1x have a significant impact on a serious 12 man match, and I haven't seen a 1x have an important role in about 2 months. (I play about 50-75 "12 man premade" matches a week.)

You can't argue with results. If you want to change the world and change the metagame, you have to prove it in competitive 12 mans, not pubstarring in mid-level Elo pug games.

I could say the same thing about "you can't argue with results", but I am a lone wolf after all so I guess my experiences in game don't matter. Depends on the pilot I suppose I just happen to have more luck with the bj-1 now especially with 12v12. In 8v8 I was much better with my 1x with 8 small pulses, it is just harder to take down missile boats with 4 extra guys on the other team. If you ask me any mech could be successful in "high-level 12-mans" as long as the pilot has gotten very good with that particular mech.

Also I am a bit confused what is pubstarring? Do you mean pugstarring?
