What do you think of this kind of build?
2 Heat sink, endo, XL320 or keep my XL280
Left arm: m Laser. left torso: ams, g-ammo 3x, L Laser, double h-sink. middle: engine (280 now), 2x jump-j 3, right torso: er-ppc, d heat-s. right arm: gauss. legs j-jet 3. This gets my attack power to 39, but also my armor full so I cannot max it (can get it to 416). Well I have a feeling that fp is something what player should not try to max, getting right weapons is more important. This would give me good ranged but also mid/close range if needed. Should I drop the m laser so can get more armor (1 isn't very usefull if some 1 gets close)?

You mean like this? http://mwo.smurfy-ne...d86f11f397f10af

I'd recommend doing something with the large and medium laser to try and get similar weapons so they complement each other. Perhaps medium pulse lasers? Also, you might want more gauss ammo or heatsinks then.

I tweaked your build some and came up with this: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...69071c43ea7e456
Now, I'm no expert on Cataphracts, but this way you can pair the gauss and ppc on one weapon group and the arm targeting reticle, upgrade the engine, add more heat sinks, have almost max armor, and have a couple med lasers for backup

With the recent buff to UAC5's and soon to be implemented changes to the gauss rifle (IE metanerf) Iv a couple of cheapish upgrades to your mech:

CTF-3D 2xUAC5 2xLL This one upgrades to DHS and endo steel, replaces the LBX10 with a second UAC5 and replaces the lasers with two large lasers, extra UAC5 ammo has been added but its still a bit on the skimpy side but should be enough to make a good dent in the other team if you play smart.

Result may vary by playstyle and experience.

CTF-3D 2LL 2ML 1LBX I made this one cause you mentioned a 320XL not sure if you have one but if you already do own one then you could try this, it uses a LBX10 from the original stock build (the weapon was recently buffed and now is considered acceptably useful so dont mind captain meta over there, try it and see what you think) NOTE if you do not already HAVE a 320, dont buy one just to try this build!

I dont have enough of money so I have to keep my xl280 for a while.
Whaat, they are nerfing the gauss? Well there goes that idea of using it then :D At least until I see what they are doing to it (seen too many times where nerfing goes to other end of spectrum). It haven’t bothered me too much to get sniped by that, only issue there is that I don’t know what super zoom they have because I surely cannot see them. I’ve gotten better with aiming so can do more damage now, ac5 is nice but the darn thing jams so often B)
Well I was going to post my plan regarding gauss but have to do something else and also look all these good suggestions through. I’ve played intensively and gotten better so I have about 2 mil now. How about I take the er ppc instead of gaus?
By the way, have the devs promised that our mechs etc. won’t get wiped when game is released?

The Gauss nerf is a charging requirement click to charge for 0.75,sec, release to fire, weapon stays ready for 1.25 sec. It might not be terrible. Maybe.

The only thing that MIGHT be wiped is Stats, probably not though.

If you have 2 or more UAC5s you can chain fire them and they probably won't jam. I can't remember if 2 works in chain fire.

Or you could just use the macro that forces them to fire only 1 time. Of course doing this causes you to lose the very neat ability to blap out lots of rounds when needed :D

Here is the 2UAC 2LL build that Xeno linked earlier... slightly tweaked.

CTF-3D Example

Includes AMS, moves LLs to the Torso (high position on torso so you can ridge hump with the LLs). You can remove the AMS and lower leg armor slightly to add 2 more tons of ammo for the UAC5s. Standard recommended UAC5 ammo is 3 tons per gun. Xeno and I are using 2 per.

I don't think either is particularly better. Just kind of showing you the choices.

I cannot chain 2x uac5 without keeping little pause in between shots like one can do with 3 but I’m intrigued to try out that. I wait bit more to see what they do to gauss and if I don’t like this build, well it is not so expensive so I change to something else. Thanks all for tips and info.
Or I just risk it and run with gauss, even if it gets nerfed. Decisions decisions…
