thanks to all replies, appreciate it.
seems to be getting away from topic.
i need a way to force Dx9, instead of getting the " newer version " msg.
the fact that 11 may have 9 in it does not mean that it is a complete package ( as mentioned above, thx ).
my 655 has the i5 Radeon 6250.
the Dx is the only thing i hav'nt been able to change yet...had 3 gamers tell me this has happened to them in the past, figured it's worth a try
so... i need a way to make 9 stick ( lol, any super glue handy )

Whelp! I really don't recommend doing this unless you know exactly what you're doing, and follow the instructions very carefully, but here you go:

I'll warn you, only do this as a last resort, messing around in the registry without knowing much about it is a fast track to wrecking your windows install. Make sure you backup first by clicking File->Export, then select the root directory (C:\) and save it there. Short name is better.

First, remember that if you have been playing MWO, the necessary dx 9c modules have been installed.

The issue with the newer version message when trying to run the dxwebsetup again is that is related to the directx 9c itself. At the moment you may have downloaded an older version of the directx 9c (dxwebsetup.exe). the Dxwebsetup does not update itself. The message itself is simply stating that as far as it is concerned, you have all the necessary dx 9c modules installed, but it does not check for possible corrupted files.

Utilize the above link. It is the entire dx 9c package. Download it, double click on it to get it started in unpacking it, ie download/directx 9c then run the setup.exe from the unpacked location. I use this when I want to ensure that any possible corrupted dx 9c files are being overwritten.
