How difficult would it be for someone who never touched the TableTop to mess around with that unofficial online client?

the table top client is bad. LOL we took over a night at a game store and introduced people to BT. You can get the classic battletech sets now and go haywire. Its really easy to learn compared to say warhammer.

The only thing you may not want to start playing with is heat. Heat management is a *&*^&

Eh... pretty hard. There isn't a tutorial or anything; it's written with the assumption that you know the rules of BattleTech already, as I recall.

*sigh* No TT games for me; the closest game store to me is 90 minutes away. Stupid economy is stupid. ;)

Oh wow I havn't seen that in years, was my intro to Battletech. Then I got another box set that had plastic mechs, made stop motion movies with them demolishing micro machines, then I think Robotech and Battletech quit being friends... Warhammers, Riflemen, Marauders, Stingers, Wasps, etc. all vanished. They never had the Zentradi Battle Pods though.

Wow memories indeed. Use to have a lot of BT and MW stuff to... then the move came and got rid of all my stuff. Now im rebuilding what i had with the current stuff and introducing my table top gaming buddies to it. Can't wait for the first headshot lol..

I played crescent hawks inception on the amiga-

also an awesome mech game- I believe it was just called mechwarrior- top down view -turn based battles for salvage-
on random maps . you could team up and play against the Ai- or go vs each other.
your pilot actually accrued experience.
It kept me and some of my friends up all hours of the nights ...

I still see a good bit of Battletech in gaming conventions, which is good. If you aren't far from the area, a good friend of mine from college runs an excellent Battletech game each year at the Council of Five Nations con in Schenectady, always the weekend of Columbus Day. He runs with an excellent miniatures terrain, everything well painted, etc.

Looks like it's in awesome condition! It makes me want to dig out my citytech and aerotech kits.

I've got that 2nd gen kit around somewhere too.

I'd love to give TT a try. Trouble is, I've got no one to try it with ;)
