The Atlas D-DC is really meant to be a team player, which means hanging out with a wolf-pack and providing ECM. You're still an Atlas, though, so you're expected to step up and mix it up when contact is made. Your ECM notwithstanding, an anti-missile system is still mandatory in case of TAG, active probes, or PPC fire. I'd also recommend carrying a beagle probe yourself, since you're going to spend a lot of time in the middle of the action.

I went with a gauss rifle and AC/5 as my primary ballistics, backed up with a pair of ER large lasers. This gives me enough range to whittle down more traditional brawlers who carry pulse lasers and AC/20s before they can get into range to damage me too much, and allows me to effectively fight back against snipers at their own game. For dealing with annoying race-cars, I have three Streak 2 racks which can force them to back off while I re-position myself to bring more guns or allies with guns to bear on the problem. Alternatively, I can pull back around a sharp corner and simply erase a leg or a torso with an alpha strike if he's foolish enough to try to charge me down, which happens more often then you'd think.

Overall the build runs a little on the warm side if firing continuously, so good fire discipline and sometimes even cool shot consumables are necessary. Fortunately a fully-mastered D-DC has a whopping four module slots to play with, so using one or even two for emergency cooling isn't much of a burden. Also, the gauss and AC/5 run very cool, and can be fired alone to keep up some pressure while relieving yourself of excess heat.
