Quick noobie question for you guys on SRMs.

SRMs basically operate like a shotgun right? aim it in the right direction and hope most of them hit for some decent damage. Only the streak SRMs track right?

With this in mind, standard SRMs would not benefit from Artimis guidance would they? I see in other forums that it is supposed to group the hits tighter for a better chance to core/destroy a single segment but I haven't noticed this myself.

It can be a bit hard to notice the difference with a bare eye but yes, Artemis makes the missile spread of SRM's tighter for more focused damage. It's a good option for SRM6 launchers but I wouldn't use it for smaller launchers.

It's definitely tighter. Spread tightening is really strong - decrease the radius by 50% (or whatever) and you decrease the spread's area by a lot more than 50%. That's why the LBX turned from a joke weapon into a joke weapon where sometimes the punchline is "your CT just disappeared."
