In paying my respect to one of the greatest soundtracks of all time, approximately once a week or so I will be doing my best to emulate the masterpieces of Gregory Alper and Jeehun Hwang. In no way will my work compare, but I will try to recreate their style to the best of my abilities, with a little flavor of my own added in.

Mechwarrior 2 Redux: "Recon by Rain and Fire"

Enjoy.

Edit: switched over to a louder version. The first upload came off a little soft. That's what I get for recording with headphones on.

Thanks! I plan on doing several more with varying tones and themes similar to those found on the original soundtrack.

You posted a nice tune for sipping tea and nipping on scones....... :)

We need a mix of techno, dubstep and rock that is what goes best with auto cannon fire and explosions

This is a Mechwarrior 2 inspired soundtrack. If you listen to the tracks from those games, a majority had this kind of style. Mercenaries threw in some rock, which my next track will focus on. As to your dubstep...no lol

Yes! No sensless Wub-wubbing!

Forgive me, I don't hate dubstep, I just don't think it fits BattleTech or MechWarrior's setting, and I would explain why, except that most people around here already know. Suffice to say, It just doesn't mix well.

I'll admit the wub-wubbing has its moments, though. The MWO reveal trailer was one of them.

Dubstep Wah Wah makes me think of the sound a PPC's oscillating particle beam might make.

Stepping away from dubstep discussions, this a very nice piece. I think I'd have brought the drums in a little earlier, around 0:40 but otherwise a nice haunting piece that called to mind some of the darker scouting missions of MW2. Nicely done!

PS: What would you charge for a piece of music like that?

Yeah Suicidal ***** kinda hijacked the thread there. Originally the drums were going to come in sooner, but I dragged them out to extend the track a bit. What would I charge? Nothing at the moment. Should be a download link on my soundcloud if you would like a copy.

Edit: Apparently idio_t is censored now.

I was actually more thinking what you'd charge to compose an original work. I know some people (myself included) looking to start an indie game company, and composers are useful people to know.

Ah gotcha. Honestly not a whole lot. Depends on the level and complexity of work. I mean I am putting together a whole new soundtrack here for ***** and giggles. Obviously anything I did for money would be a higher quality than this (I threw this together yesterday morning)

I used to listen to the Mercenaries CD all the time, (the game disc had tracks on like 2-14 or something,) and I'd like otoknow if there are any plans to make this game's soundtrack available.

I loved their "band in a bombed-out metropolis" feel and the brooding atmosphere is a definite match with being strapped into a lumbering tin-can of death and destruction.

You know what would be REALLY cool?

If the founders packages came with a link to download or unlock the soundtrack.

*wink*
