If PGI allows macros and scripts (which afaik they do), then why don't they program the weapons to behave the scripted way by default? There are many players who do not have any idea about ahk and such, and when they run into one of those buzzsaws they have no idea how to do the same thing.
For example, ahk scripts are being used to circumvent heat penalties and UAC5 jamming. It looks like someone who uses one of these macros would have an advantage over someone who does not.

Well, someone who reads forums also has a (huge) advantage over others who don't (most players) - should we force all players to read them to remove the infair advantage some people get?
However I also think that the current system is lacking.
We should be able to change the chainfiring speed ingame, otherwise in most cases is is not very useful, so people resort to scripts.

This is why I publish my macros in the Hardware forum, to try to create a level playing field.
I do not think it is fair that people who do not have expensive mice or who do not know AHK have to miss out on using their mech to it's full potential because PGI have failed to fix this issue.
So here it is:
Fire Control

Circumventing heat penalties is as simple as chainfiring your 6 PPCs in 2 separate groups. Fire groups 1 and 2 (which are each set to fire one at a time). Holding the keys you'll fire them again at exactly 0.5 seconds apart from the original 2. If you fail to release, you'll fire again in 0.5 seconds and then wait for the first set to recycle before continuing.
When it comes to the UAC/5 thing, yes someone could install some fire control software to better time no-jam firing rates. Believe it or not macros are as old as the old bi-plane fighters. The machine gun was timed to fire in between the rotations of the blade. Awesome, isn't it? The tech is pretty old, but it only exists if you put it in.
In most cases, however, such as AC/2s, you actually are reducing your firing rate and your damage per second to put more psychological trauma on the enemy, making yourself far more intimidating when in fact you have weakened yourself by having more bark than bite. This was before the b.s. penalty thing. Honestly 6 AC/2 builds were joke builds that were super slow and significantly inferior to 4 AC/2 builds. I don't see why they needed a penalty for more than 4.
