I'd be having more fun if with every mech i bought i wasn't forced to ugrade to DHS and rip out half the weapons or replace them with smaller ones because of the pathetic heat system :(

I'm still having fun with the game - but I am starting to wonder in the forums....

If people dislike the direction the game has gone so far as to delete it...
Why are they digging around what are technically obscure areas of the forum to vote on something like this?

Maybe because I am not them, but that kind of behavior makes no sense to me - regardless of how much they like mechwarrior in general.

The meta(big picture peoples!), forum outlook, and lack of any meaningful doings from PGI now and in the future are slowly killing my fun.

I'm in a mixed state here.

When the machmaker actually works and provides for a 10+ minute long match that ends 12:10 or 10:12 then yeah. I am still having hell of a lot of fun.

Sadly though nowadays the majority of my matches are 12:5 (or worse) steamrolls either way. And that is no fun at all no matter if I am on the winning or losing side. But it's even less fun when on the losing side.

If there was any hope in rally-ing the pugs we would have had an in game VOIP a year ago. but no we are left to pump quarters into this game to make up for the companies shortcomings......BOO! now it may as well be every pug for himself.

Mixed feelings for me.

For me the golden eras of this game were before introducing ECM and the period between having a counter to ECM that can be equiped on every mechs ( Beagle Active Probe) and the introduction of the ghost heat system.

Like many other stated before me half of the fun was spent in the mech lab buildidng your dream machine, i still can do but with the ghost heat system now its complicated, there is no ways to see the potential ghost heat from the mech lab so you have to test it eveytime in a trial run, too much limitations of possible builds ( killed my self 3 times preventing the mech shooting me form getting the kill lol). That system was still manageable until they started to link the same weapons... That blows ( for instance your mech, between other things) !!!!

The third person view while it was supposed to be a first person shooter -.-... Seismic sensor was i think a good implementation if it was working only if your mech was stationnary ( your mech dont create vibrations so you can detect others, logic no?), but this coupled wit third person view you have no chances but absolutly no chances on sneaking up an ennemy ( Rest In Pieces SRM boat).

So yeah limitations of speciality mechs affecting gameplay, pretty much everyone has the same build now : 2 large lasers, 2 or 3 medium lasers and SRM or ballistic heavy hitter; UAC5 boat hammering pretty much everything from far mid and close range... In other words if you dont have any ballistic slot, its so much harder to be competeitive...

All the promises about the content that is not yet running, the abyssmal launch, always the same maps, no variety in missions gameplay ( team deathmatch 1 and team deathmatch 1,5), light mech hitbox problem (specialy spider), the way they buff weapons because they have a sell of hero mechs that can totally benefits from and nerf the weapon once the sell is over.... This is annoying.

That is a lot of negative stuff but on the other side what keep the game fun is: The core gameplay of shooting stuff up and cutting ennemies to pieces, it simply never get old. Coupled with the mech customization you can have creative way to do so with missiles, ballistics or energy weaponry. "Hey this game i wont cut them with lasers i will blow him to pieces with SRM's in his face".
Also even if the game lack a DX11 support, tiny lack of physics and smashable environment, the art team is making an incredible job on the esthetic of mech designs and the maps. Thats what keeps me playing.

So at launch, if i could give it a score it would be a 5/10, the potential is still there since it was super fun before last July and i have hope they will get back there somehow. The core gameplay is still good but the design choices since last July are really slowing down the overall experience. I have a Phoenix project Overlord package in the oven right now, i absolutly want it but paying 80$ to support those idiotic decisions, by principles i wouldn't so i m still at the point at ' do i ask for a refund or not?".

Best advise is, try it for free, do not invest in it until they are releasing more content for it and hell i will say it! Check if the game survives the year, because i have the feeling if they keep on that road the game will just shutdown ( too much heat from the forum groups due to the ghost heat system) :)

I've been having fun but just recently it has hit me that this is basically just the same game it was almost a year ago. No real progress to speak of. New mechs are not progress. Add in bloody Terra Therma that seems to come every second match, bugged Spiders that take no dmg even when standing still, poor stability even after all the fixes, the heat scale system meant to address alpha strikes but which actually causes heat penalty even when chain firing AC20's and many other issues and I'm really not sure if I enjoy this anymore. Bought the Phoenix on the hope that some real progress would happen but so far nothing. Might have to get a refund.

Well I bought MC today (again). In all the time that I've been playing there have been a few bad periods because of problems, repeating grinds (before the cadet bonus was introduced) and gamebalancing, but PGI are doing things about it and I'm having more fun with MWO still than I'm having with a lot of other games. Especially when I compare it to other Free2Play games. So did any of the next f2p/mp games give me more fun:

Ghost Recon Online - no
Star Trek Online - no
DC universe - no
The starwars online game - no
World of tanks - no
World of planes - no
Heck, even the Snorederlands and boredomlands 2 games in co-op sucked. Talking about repetitive gameplay.
I'd rather play MWO than COD or Halo on my xbox. But maybe thats just because they don't have mechs and have screaming kiddies on the comms. I'm a big fan of Systemshock / Systemshock 2, but Bioshock+BS2+BS Infinite gave me less pleasure than MWO has given me to this day. If you want to scream at developers about F*cking up an IP, go murder the Bioschock devs (don't actually do it, it's a figure of speech).

Honestly... I don't know. I guess I'll go in the "mixed" ones. :)
I play 12vs12 only.
Some runs in 12vs12 came up to be great matches (even if you get cored or if your team loose).
Some other runs came up to be silly from the beginning (a friendly Atlas alpha-striking the back of a light mate just at startup).
These days I play just to grab as much experience as I can to get the elite skill for my pref 'mech, can't care about anything else (and I know that those skills will be reviewed/changed if some PvE will be ever implemented).
I win? Fine: I get more xp. I loose? Fine: I get some xp anyway. And for me this is all the game as it is now.
Hoping for the future... just waiting...
