How much effort would that make? They just need to take that friggin filter out and that's it! Can't be that hard compared to the other things they need to do. Also it leaves a really bad impression. It is most likely the first thing newcomers will buy as soon as they get those GXP together. Talking about myself - I'm REALLY mad right now and that definately won't get me in the mood to spend any real money on this game in the future.

It is not a filter that you see, it should be a picture-in-picture zoom and since Cryengine does not support that it requires far more effort than taking out a single filter to make it work. With that said i can agree they should've done something about it, sadly it did not happen so far.
Edit: What you see is what happens when someone tries to force PIP zoom mode in Cryengine without rewriting the engine itself.

Oh, okay. Looked intentional to me. It was kinda like that in MW4 but there it was far more practical. In my opinion they should make it free of charge then and give GXP back to gamers who bought it. It's a bummer.

The engine they are using is close to unable to show picture in picture graphics clearly if you "zoom" using it.
This is why the zoom is borked.
If they made it a normal zoom like the zoom we already have when we press Z (by default) then there would be no issue.
The problem is in pic within pic situations.
So no... its not PGI but actually the engine they are using which is **** :b
Then again its PGI who decided not to make it a simple zoom function instead when they realized that it didnt work as intended.

As far as i know they return no GXP despite that it is not working properly.

Every now and then a new guy gets rightfully ****** off about it, but there is nothing we can do sadly aside from considering that GXP lost. Well, there you have it, there are other things that don't work properly too but you'll see them eventually.
@0okami That is what i've tried to explain in my comments.

Also - as bad as this is - I almost forgot that the game still is beta and beta is beta, after all. So I'll save my rightious anger for the final version.

I agree. Also some more transparency about the issue would help.

I'll try to hold back my sarcasm here and only say that transparency was never PGI's or MWO's strongest point.
I see. They'll need to work on that to stay competetive in the long run. Even EA tries (more or less successfully) to improve its image as well as Ubisoft. And even casual gamers seem to get more cautious and there is a lot of competition in free2play games these days.
Anyway, I definately won't go for anything costly anymore without checking with the community first.

As for the Zoom module, I first spectated a player with it in Closed Beta.... decided then and there 'No Way'. IMO it's a total waste, and I advise same with people I meet who are new to the game.

AtD 44 -
Question from Mechiro:
What will happen to Command Console component and Advanced Zoom module on the launch date, will they stay as they are right now? Command Console does nothing other than taking place and weight when mounted. Advanced Zoom does not work as expected:* current zoom level returns to 1x and shows blurry image where almost nothing can be seen, and after being turned off zoom level remains 1x (does not return to previous level).* mechs are indistinguishable, triangles that show friend or foe are constantly moving back and forth to match zoom levels of 1x and 4x.
Answer from David:
The exact nature of how the Command Console will work keeps changing and evolving. It’s possible but unlikely that it will be updated before launch. Hopefully we can get it in not too long after, but it’s currently not scheduled.
Regarding Advanced Zoom, that has admittedly gotten left by the wayside. It’s still too expensive to properly render a picture in picture zoom like that, but we probably should take another look at that module, and find some ways to make it more viable.

I have 24" and it is still too small for that. I would really welcome if they can just do it as "normal" 4x zoom, do not understand what is so F*****G tough on that...
