I've been play for about 3 weeks now and had mastered JGR, CDA, HBK, and started some JR play i was looking to try an assault mech i have been reading the forums and am looking at the AWS and VIC. I know the AWS is not a great mech right now but i was looking for a bawler or (mostly) Long range energy boat. this was the mechs i came up with in the lab
AWS-8V or VTR-9S
i fell the VIC is better but the engine is about a whole another mech in price. Thanks for any help and sorry if hard to read im dyslexic.

Victor is a solid choice for a brawler, but you are correct, the XL350 and XL375 engines which are pretty popular and effective on Victors will make it one of your most expensive mechs. It's totally worth it though imho.
There are also victor builds using standard engines, though I am personally not a fan of those.
The Awesome is not very popular atm, but there are people that perform really well with them. That being said, if you hadn't had the chance to test them out via a trial mech or such yet, I would say a Stalker would be a safer choice for an energy boat and won't cost you much more than the Awesome.

If you can live without the "arms" a stalker is a great mech. I find them suprisingly durable and pack quite a punch.

Both are good mechs. just if you get the AWS, then never get the V model. Get the 8T as a general purpose or the 8R, if you want to go missile heavy. Personally I would either get the 8T or the Victor 9S. For the Victor get a 375 XL for the AWS a 300 std.

Stay away from the awesome and go for a Victor. It's alot more fun to play and It's profile makes it a much harder target with Jump Jets and speed concidered.

I run an AWS-8T like this. I've played 139 matches in it and average across all 139 a total of 304 damage. I've easily hit 600 and despite the XL engine, if you hang back 400m from the brawlers you can rain utter death down with the head tag+artemis giving you a massive damage boost by making the missiles super accurate. Plus it has enough speed to keep up with the heavies and slow mediums so mobility isn't an issue. I have an 8Q and a 9M but to be honest I like the 8T the most, the four energy slots on the arms are just too useful since you can easily pinpoint and using CTRL key you can lock your view so that your arms are completely extended and partially shield your mech's CT from damage.

I really think the Vic-9S and the AWS-8T are both incredibly fun. You should really get them both, but the Victor is far more expensive due to the 375 XL, that you will want at least once you get the feeling for it.
