It was an average day, got home from school, threw my backpack into my room, pet my dog. Turned my PC on and loaded up mechwarrior online.
Figured I would run a quick match on my Deaths knell. Just finished a new loadout idea with 1 large laser, 1 medium and 1 small. Excellent heat efficiency.
I thought it was going to be a normal match.
I was wrong.
It started off in tourmaline desert, I followed another regular commando and a centurion to kappa, After we got it, we all split and went separate ways. after a few minutes of mindless battling, A PPC Blackjack fell into the pit by Kappa. Taking advantage of how hard it was to hit a light with a PPC, I rushed at the opportunity. We brawled for about half a minute, then another PPC jack joined him. Same colors, loadout, everything.it was a premade team.
Game over.
Or is it? holding my own against these two was no easy task. They hit more times that i expected, maybe they were a good shot, or I'm just a bad light player, but lets leave that to wonder. They had my right arm and left leg down to just about critical damage, one more hit and I've lost a large laser, my main firepower, or half my speed, which my life depended on. But just as things were grim, a Cataphract jump jets down, and begins to melt through the duo with a seemingly unending barrage of autocannons. just as they retreat though the passage close to Kappa, they are met with an atlas. A couple PPC blasts and AC/20 rounds left them as a smoking mess. Other than two critical arms and a leg, I was pretty much unharmed. The atlas and Cataphract go off on their own business, and so do I. Just leaving the ditch, A Victor hiding behind cover near theta catches eye of me.
He unloaded all he had. Three AC 2s and a PPC. Before I could even react my leg was gone, And my Large laser went missing. I kicked it into overdrive, and limped to the nearest crystal cover. Just as I was getting into relative safety, My other arm exploded.
I had no defense, I couldn't even rely on my speed. 40 KPH was all that my engine could muster.
But finally, a change in my luck, The same atlas as before turned the corner and engaged the Fresh New Victor, but could he last long? When I saw him, he was missing the AC/20 that gave him an edge before, and he looked pretty torn up. I checked the List, only me and him left. In my distraction, the enemy captured theta, giving them the resource edge, and My downed teammates told me that I had to get to Sigma, crossing the open in the victor atlas brawl was too dangerous. I started to stumble towards sigma, still plenty of time to cap. An Occasional AC/2 shell or stray laser was flung my way, but the engagement behind me had forgotten I was there. But just as I was about to get to cover, An Autocannon shell put my other leg down to critical red.
If the victor took a couple seconds to stop and aim it me, it was over.
But I made it, just barely inching behind cover when the sounds of PPCs and Shells hammering the ground behind me appeared.
I had made it. and was happily on my way to sigma, knowing that I was relatively safe, When My Big metal Friend walked away from the steaming hunk that was a Victor.
Game over.
I had survived.
and was rewarded with a 98,000 C-bills.
Like a chump.
