Force Feedback is still needed in MWO.

Most polls show 15-18 percent of MWO players use a joystick (usually) and I think more will as time goes on. The immersion is so much deeper with a joystick that many players will switch to it over time.

Most good inexpensive Joysticks are Force Feedback now, I got my Logitech Force 3D Pro for $40 5 years ago and it is still as good as new even though it's seen alot of service. Force Feedback sticks are just built better. $40 is cheaper than my Mouses which are all dead.

However, MWO has no joystick Force Feedback for it. And that's a shame because MechWarrior comes to life with Force Feedback. Weapons kick back or hum and pop. Weapons hitting your mech might bump, but they tell you where the shot hit if done right. Mech footsteps tapping the bottom of the stick and telling you when your mech lands from a jump jetting.

Well here's hoping we get Force Feedback asap. The only warning I would have is to make certain the Mech's footfalls do not interfere with aiming by making the stick move side to side, etc. Footfalls should just be gentle drum on the bottom of the stick.

Logitech is supposed to be making one. I am sure Force Feedback Joysticks are not gone forever, it's just that flight sims and sci-fi sims pretty much disappeared for 5 to 7 years, MechWarrior for 10 years. X-Box can't support joysticks they say although there was that one Mech game that had it's own joystick on X-Box. That sold out really fast, even though the whole package cost $250 bucks.

Anyway, a new bunch of sci-fi sims is hitting right now and for the next several years it looks like. MechWarrior Online, Strike Suit Zero, X-Rebirth in November, to name a few. They will need Force Feedback Joysticks like First Person Shooters need gaming mice.

Anyway, MechWarrior is really awesome with Force Feedback.
