Mech Sell Prices

How can the sell price for the atlas I purchased for over 9 million be only 2 million, the idea that a 100 ton assault mech in pristine condition sells back for that rediculous amount is just pethetic, just how stupid do you think we would have to be to think that this massive difference in price is exeptable.
This needs to be changed to something more reasonable like 20% off the orginal purchase price for a rough example.

I don't see any reason to buff the sell price.
I'd suggest that would be lovely to have a player to player market, so you can sell your empty chassis to other players, even auction them.

Still... even 50% off the orginal price is a stupid amount to take off.
I would also love to see a player auction house.

It's not a pristine mech,. Once you buy it its already devalued. You don't think you're going to get an 100tonne mech shipped to you to fiddle about with however you please until you give it back. Silly.
Just don't sell mechs.

Was it being sold stripped or unstripped? For many mechs, the biggest item c-bill cost wise is the engine. Stalkers tend to have small engines to begin with, so even leaving it in does not net many c-bills. I rarely sell mechs, and when I do I strip them first. Many people that have been playing the game for a while have multiple medium lasers, extra heat sinks, a PPC, maybe an AC, and even a couple engines sitting in their stockpiles. It's usually better to keep these things hanging around than sell them off.

Why would I sell a mech? wait, I can't have more that 4 mechs, THAT'S WHY YOU SELL A MECH.... for people who asks why would someone sell a mech...
But I think that buffing the sell price of anything would debalance the game, think about people who already sell more than 4 o' 5 mechs 'cause they didn't have enough space, it's not fair you know...

Uh, 7$ will get you a few more mech bays.
But, you know, you want to deal with the hassle of mastering mechs with 4 bays... you do you, popeye.

Hiya, Daisu!
I would think it would heavily depend on the marketplace how well a "used" product would sell. Some things, like Cars, automatically lose their value once they're driven off the lot, this is true. The RP scarcity of mechs in Universe (Not really scarce in game - most of us have at least 3, and as many as 4-5 dozen) to the point where few pilots own their own mech, and those that do tend to have had it passed down to them from a previous generation (not unlike a house) implies that the demand for mechs (even one with a history of war behind it) will far, FAR outstrip the supply. This factor would likely keep most of the off-the-lot selling price reduction from hitting as hard as the game currently supposes (but not all - I could see the OP's suggested 20% markdown being reasonable.)
One thing to keep in mind about some of the costs in upgrading our mechs is that a lot of that cost is going to be labor that goes above and beyond what would have been necessary to have the mech come with it standard from the factory floor. This means that, while Endosteel and Ferrous Armor should both add to the resale price, they should not add anywhere near the full value it cost you, the mechwarrior, to have it installed. Frankly, I'd consider only the difference in cost between the installation of upgrades (endosteel, double heat sinks, ferrous armor, artemis) and the cost for reinstalling the standard varients (standard structure, single heat sinks, standard armor, and standard guidance, respectively) to be a part of the resale value of a mech.
As an example, let's say an Urbanmech has a cost of 3000000 C bills out of the factory. Kurita Mechpilot Hiro Protagonist has it upgraded to double heat sinks, costing him 1500000 C bills. Hiro, somehow, doesn't find the Urbanmech particularly worthwhile, and tries to sell it on the market. The cost for the installation of single heat sinks is 750000, so only the remaining 750000 of the double heat sink cost would be added to the base cost of the urbanmech, totalling 3750000. Because the market is a fickle place and there's totally a dent on the Urbanmech's fender, the urbanmech sells for a (still respectable, because even Urbanmechs are in high demand) 75% of its base cost. Hiro Protagonist, in the end of the day, has spent 4500000 C bills and gotten back around 2800000 C bills. Painful, but not nearly as painful as the additional loss of around 1300000.

Hail US. I enjoyed your write up.
I hope the economy that will come out to support this game will be as thoughtful.
