As the topic says, almost every time I play Terra Therma there is one or more disconnects at the start of the match. My most recent match there, three players disconnected at the start. I've even played a game where a player said "sry not this map" and then bailed.

I understand connection issues but this is more than coincidence. The map typically takes longer to play out and I often see less action than on some of the other maps (read: less CBILLS). The other downside to the map is that everybody's favourite weapon, the PPC, runs a bit hot in a volcano.

I don't really know what the solution is but I can see this becoming a problem. In other games where leavers ruin games, there are low priority queues for the offenders so its harder to find games (and you play other leavers). Or perhaps if you leave within the first minute, all of your mechs are locked until the end of that game so you can't jump into another right away. Give everyone 1 freebie per day to account for connection problems.

Yeah, because some players are inconsiderate, selfish gits who don't seem to get a multiplayer team based game is not, in fact, all about them. Disconnect, and you rob 23 other players of a good, balanced battle.

If players were to DC whenever they get a map they don't like, it wouldn't just serve to "teach PGI" about a problem map - it would ruin the whole game for everyone. I, for example, like Terra Therma. But I strongly dislike RCN. I know players who hate all sorts of maps... In fact, it's pretty normal for someone to ***** "Oh, no, not THIS map again" in some fashion at the start of every drop. It just ensures that all the matches suck for everyone.

I definitely think there should be fairly severe penalties for repeatedly deliberately disconnecting early in the match. I get that legit DC's happen, but PGI can definitely track metrics here and identify problem players.

I've been an avid PC gamer for about ten years now. You'd be hard pressed to name a major title that I haven't played. That being said...

Terra Therma is one of the worst maps I've ever played in the history of gaming.

I don't blame people for DCing at the start of a round.

I personally have no problem with Terra Therma, I like the map. However, PGI should remove the selection bias I've heard (and noticed) they put in for new maps, but only for Terra Therma. This would mitigate people having situations where they play the map 3 times in a row (I hear people complaining about this all the time).

(Note: better solution: everyone needs to suck it up)
