Not sure if its been posted yet but I've been having a lot of success with this Protector build

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...79598279ea12607

Im still debating on Artemis for the 6-pack, but it works quite well as a backup weapon with only 1 ton of ammo.

After going completely broke buying two Orion variants I am running some very strange builds forced by poverty. I am using a K with a 300XL + 30 SHS + 3 LLAS + TAG. My VA is also using SHS but with a 360XL and 2xLRM5 + 2xLRM15 + 2 Mlas.

I am running my protector at the moment with this curious build to great success. It looks weird on paper, but it's sick somehow.

You can bring a lot of technical arguments against this, but it works very well.

Tweaked my build a smidge, swapped UAC5 for AC5, xl350 instead of xl360. Broke 1k dmg again on test run, seems to work ;)

After a few days playing some ON1's these are the observations iv come up with concerning the three variants I have:

ON1-K: this model sets itself apart from the other ON1 with four energy points divided between its arms allowing it greater accuracy with lasers or the ability to mount multiple lasers alongside TAG to support some LRMs.

ON1-V: my most recent purchase its defining trait is being the only ON1 with more than one ballistic slot, however as they are situated in the same side torso its unable to mount larger caliber cannons together, however it can make use of a large and small caliber together. Like the VA is also has the ability to mount missiles in its arms allowing for greater SRM accuracy, if those are your cup of tea.

ON1-VA: With all but one of its weapon slots situated in its arms this one is interesting all around, as on top of that it has the most missile slots of any ON1 allowing it to be a very nice missile mech and can be equiped to your liking with LRMs, SRms and SSRMs while having the energy points for TAG also in the arms if needed.
-----

Don't have the ON1-M so cant say much about that, though looking at it on smurfy it looks like the ******* child of a K and V model with a small missile slot growing out of its CT like some defect. Its only upside is comming with the expensive XL300 and LBX10 which together would cost 6.7M cbills on their own so it may still prove a interesting buy on the road to filling out the basic trees for your ON1 series.

All of these builds lack endo steel. Plus you need to strip armour off the legs and arms.

Greetings, gentlemen.

It's been a long time since I've played MWO (used to be a Legendary founder, had to quit the program because of poor PC performance). Now that the game is more stable, I find it hard to decide which mech I should choose to be the first in my hangar. Taking into account that I greatly enjoyed playing a fast brawler-style Founder's Atlas build which utilized multiple SRM systems with AC/20 and two LL, I've decided to purchase an Orion chassis. So far I came up with this build

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...e8bd8971fcbdf2b

I'd like to ask you, Orion pilots, to give me some practical advice regarding this Orion build. The game has seen major changes, and I am not sure that my experience in sufficient.

I appreciate your assistance.

Hmm trying to keep some semblance of your build I went with ON1-VA , large pulse lasers are largely regarded as still terrible due to the extreme weight and high heat alongside super short range. Using large lasers instead I freed up alot of weight to put towards armor , a extra heat sink in the engine and moved the ammo to the legs as no one ever bothers shooting a orion in the legs, its pretty easy to core.

Personally I find orions are a bit rough in brawler situations due to the bulk of their torso being dominated by the CT, and using a XL means even if you do manage to spread the damage it just means your more likely to die (as I have died a few times from side torsos being blown out on mine), thats not to say it cant brawl but will have a rough time from high alpha enemies.

Are you actually saying that I should pick other chassis for the fast brawler heavy-hitting mech?

I like this one for the ON-V ON1-V Or the same build but switch in an AC20 + 4t of ammo for the AC2 and AC5

Why would you place ammo in the CT?

The Forum is full of complaints about the Orion and its CT Problem ( Damage Magnet / cant be protected )
....

Better go with a Victor ( rly sweet Mech ), Cataphracts ( 3D is so good ) and even Quickdraws put out more fun.

Orion needs some CT overhaul.
