I'm not sure if this is a known issue or not, but since the patch before this one (2/17) the patcher silently crashes unless I run MWO as administrator.
It's just the patching that is the problem and once it is patched I don't have to run as admin any more. Just after a new patch if I launch MWO normally, it will tell me I need to patch, I hit the patch button and it just goes away - no error message, nothing in the log I can find. On a whim I tried launching it at administrator and it went through fine. That was after going through the process of repairing and then reinstalling.

It should need administrator to be accessing the program files folder.
But it should display a message not just ungracefully crash out.

I am re-downloading the game today after a long time not playing. I was having the same issue, the patcher would just quit with no error message. Running as admin does not seem to fix it as it gets just a little bit through patch 1/4 and then poof.
