hey all, finally got into this game this morning. all the negative community backlash actually inspired me to check it out. i feel like the transition from single-player-focus to multiplayer competitive hasn't worked out to well.

this game seems to do a lot of things right though, so i'll keep at it for a bit.

can anybody recommend some mechs to me?

i should add, i like to play fast and twitchy...

That would be Jenner

JR7-F 6ML

Like that for instance, please examine the price up in the top right corner.

Jenners and spiders are the epitome of fast mechs, although the raven 3l and the Cicadas are just as fast if somewhat less mobile since the former can bring jump jets.

There's a few underlying problems complicating the game balance. One of them is the insanely high threshold you can get which allows you to spam much more fire power in 12 seconds than you can in tabletop for 30 seconds, all the while not reaching nearly as high on the threshold. (Example, the 6 PPC build). There's been some bandaids. They help.

In the mean time, spiders, jenners, Raven 3-L specifically, Cicadas and Commandos can all fulfill this role. Though if you want a 'twitchier' attack ditch the medium lasers and go straight to pulse lasers, either 6 SPL or 4 MPL.

*SNIP* Heat Capacity thing again which astonishingly is implemented correctly in the Table Top to Realtime transition by PGI. Even including a tweak (DSHS 1.4 )because TT to RT had an even higher Heat Capacity problem.

I added the 6ML Jenner just for you dude... so you could do the SPL, MPL thing :(

ok i would say check if youve claimed your 1 day free premium time from the sites download page, and welcome.mwo is broken but its fun...your 1st mech should have ballistics to better manage your heat.

Hey man, welcome to the game, although there is alot of negative feedback form certain player base (not saying they are not justified) this is still a great game. I hope that PGIGP surprise us at launch with UI 2.0 and CW 1.0.
