Only read part of the first page so far, I think the Gauss is 2x better now and the heavy metal is the better for it.

My loadout has always been and will always be 3X Large Laser with Gauss.

Such an excellent buff coupled with the ppc nerf the whole meta is much better so far.

I have purchased the Heavy Metal, the Dragon Slayer, and now the Orion, I love the new Gauss functionality. Great job PGI, keep up the good work.

I have faith that you will post up some high damage matches after another week of adjusting. Heavy Metal is a glorious machine.

OP does have a bit of a point. If you bought any of these MC based on using Gauss and/or either of the PPCs and now find they don't work for you, I can see how you feel cheated. I mean I felt that way about my last premium purchase that took place like 2 days prior to the nerf.

I got lucky however, I had already removed the Gauss rifles from my DS and HM so the change in the Gauss really didn't effect me. The PPC nerf on the other hand, well that is another story. Totally screwed up my DS who used on a single ER PPC supported by other weapons as I went from a very manageable 1.23 heat efficiency to a very unmanagable 1.1 heat. (equalivant of about 3-4 DHS in change in my ability to keep my mech cool on the hotter maps).

My Victor 9K (which I paid MC for) is worthless too. The gauss mechanic is too hard to use and DOES NOT accomplish what it was designed for. The purpose was to desync Gauss with ERPPC, but it doesn't accomplish that. Instead it makes gauss incredibly difficult to use. Half the time by time the gauss is charged I have lost the shot I was looking for (at range) and the other half when I find a new shot to take the gauss has lost its charge and I have to start over. This is really frustrating me!

I has DragonSlayer.

I still could not give two wet farts about the gauss nerf.

I voted "no", cause:

a) gauss is still fine, because of the speed probably even better then before
;) the HM (and any other heromech) is still a heromech that brings in more CB.

In fact i do own the HM and run it with 2 ERPPC, 1 Gauss, 2 SRM4 + artemis.
And i plan on running it similar to that. Just rip out the SRMs and you can still have your Gauss/PPC combo that just works.

This game is hard enough without overly complex mechanics, if i could remove the actuator and slap a ac20 in i might be OK....but all in all changing travel time might have been sufficient.

There is bad feeling throughout the community about decisions that have been made. Would i like a phoenix package and orion now...yea i probably would! will i spend my cash because of decisions like this . No.

If we lose variety we are left with generic builds, where a heavy cannot out gun a medium etc. The generic glaze will make it uninteresting. 2ppc and gauss was not op the pilots skill was. Everything has gotten nerfed and well it's pretty lame.

That picture you used... the Heavy Metal has no lasers in its torso. Also, I personally didnt care for the gauss changes. So I changed to something else. And I like that something else a heck of a lot better then I like the original gauss, so win!

A buddy of mine has his gauss paired with a large laser now. By time the laser is finished firing, the gauss is ready to fire. Seems to work well for him.

Not sure who did that but meh, PGI try a longer green light time!

It wouldnt be too bad on a jager in the hgn you can end up jump brawling and trying to line up a shot when hovering over an atlas then trying to mix it up with lasers and srm fire.

The gauss was meant to be a sniping weapon to start with, not a brawling cannon. That's what the LB 10-X/UAC/5/AC/20 is for.

How many of you dished out $30 plus dollars to acquire this mech based on knowing how the Gauss rifle worked.

Guilty.

I got it because it had direct fire weapons in both arms and none of the other Highlanders have that. I got it because direct fire weapons are not all located on one side, like the other Highlanders. I got it because I wanted the Highlander bad, and would have had to wait weeks to get one otherwise.

I run HM with standard engine (maxed...65kph speed), Gauss, 3 large lasers in chainfire, 1 jump jet, and almost maxed armor. It has been very effective for me. Arm-mounted direct fire weapons are great on inclines. It does great damage at all ranges. Gauss has the 2nd best stopping power in the game, and I get headshots with it all the time. Large lasers are great for strafing annoying lights that get to close, and awesome for supplemental damage to the gauss on maps that are heat friendly.

This needs to be fixed I feel like an MC refund please only Heavy Metal / Dragon Slayer / Misery pilots need answer.

You are not entitled to a refund on a beta product. You knew it was a beta product.

All the nerd rage over this is was out of proportion. It was not a total nerf...the projectile speed is WAY faster now. Almost twice as fast. The weapon is now what it should have been (and what it was in the TT game)...a long range sniping weapon. Not an AC/15.

I tried to swap it out at first but I ended up re-equiping it. There just isn't anything better. It will take some getting used to, but I have made kills with it just fine. It is not broken.

oh no I have to lift my finger from the button 2 seconds after I press it..

This alleged nerf has actually made the weapon..ALOT.. better
