I don't like the idea of silhouetting the target because it **** the shooter in a style similar to world of tanks, where camouflage was simply an aesthetic..

Apparently when something a1ds something, that's a bad thing.

So: "...because it helps the shooter..."

fair enough, but you gotta agree that the targeting square is a huge pain in the ***

if you mean that the square is a bit off from the mech, then yes, that is annoying.

But the mouse sensitivity is the last real issue with it. If you use the normal zoom, it gets it decrease it seems but not with the module. And always switching the dpi is a bit meh... my mouse has this dpi-clutch but i don't like it to play that way.

It has aided my sniping. Too bad I'm about to finish mastering and are selling that mech soon. Well, I'll put it to my next mech that will probably have gauss.

Here is a comparison Picture of the Old advanced Zoom and the newest Patched Version....

FYI... sorry about the BLue Boxes in the newest version... the New Depth of View Grainy thing has messed up
my game a bit on some maps...

I told people PGI could fix it when PGI wanted to. But they were like, "oh no, CryEngine 3 can't possibly do a zoom like every other game in the world already does it."

The shame is that now they're nerfing all the sniper weapons. So you really got to ask yourself if it's worth it to buy a module for a role whose days are numbered. It's similar to how they released the Stalker and Trebuchet right after making LRMs completely useless. It was many months before the Mechs had any value. This module change came too late. Soon you'll have no good long range guns to use it with. I'd stake my life on the fact that very soon they will nerf the remaining Ballistic weapons. They are not blind to those using AC2s or 5s right now in place of the gutted Gauss and PPCs.

I actually do not like the changes to the advanced zoom module as it lost its major benefit to me. That is the small PIP box with a higher zoom value for sniping or scanning and the normal zoom in the rest onf the picture to keep an overview of the battlefield.

Now with the whole cockpit zooming to 3x that overview is lost. And for me the improvement of the 4x zoom image quality is not worth it.

EDIT: fixed typos

there are still 2 problems with advanced zoom

1: Mouse sensibility doesn't decrease when using the module, making it difficult to get a perfect shot

2: the targeting square is more of a detriment than anything else. They should simply add a red lining around the mech profile so you know who you have targeted.

1: Bad and good. Bad because it high sensitivity works against the purpose of the module i.e precision shooting, unless you can switch sensitivity on the fly. On the other hand: If you can switch on the fly them it kind of ads a sim feel. But on a F2P shooter, auto lowered sensitivity would probably be more appropriate.

2: That's just broken. The targeting square is more often off target than on when I use it.

1. that's how most shooters do it. At least, they give you a different sensibility slider for when you're zoomed in. The same thing wouldn't hurt here and PGI lacked foresight by not including it.

2. indeed, something needs to be done. A silhouette would be nice, or at least get rid of the big square and simply add a little red triangle over your target.

It wasnt that they could not do a 4x zoom, the issue was the PiP rendered the image a 2nd time slowing down the engine by a considerable amount, it wasnt zoom cryengie had issues with it was picture in picture.

This new zoom module renders in 4x then pups a cosmetic PiP box in place.
