The Gauss nerf was overkill. All the timid pilots act like the Gauss was a big deal, but it's got medicore DPS for a ballistic and was only used alot because A) it fits in mech's arms and B ) it could adapt to not knowing what map you are getting ready for in Mechlab. It's weak in DPS for it's range and DPS per ton as well.

No one is using the Gauss in the games I have observed. They have one loaded, but the ammo never ticks down. Even when just standing and waiting for the target to walk into view, they fire the AC2 like mad, but not the Gauss.

I know players used the Gauss alot before the patch, but that has more to do with MWO not having Map selection enabled yet. If I know I am going to the City or Canyon, I will take an AC20 and maybe UAC-5 and Medium Lasers and if a Gauss toating fool comes at me they will lose badly. Very badly.

There was nothing OP about the Gauss except in players heads. It would never have been what some call the Meta if map selection was enabled in MWO because the Gauss just can't do the DPS of other ballistics.

The correct level of adjustment for the Gauss would be to increase the recharge by one or two seconds. Making it unusable to most players does not benefit the Lore of the game or the character of the Gauss.

Wow, some heavy history rewriting there. We're supposed to believe that a 15 point instant damage weapon with zero heat and one of the longest ranges in the game was really useless all along? Sure sure.

u know a single uac5 does more dps than a gauss rifle by a pretty significant margin right?

that would be kind of like a medium laser doing more dps than a large >.>

Yes, a supreme tactical advantage if we all stand motionless and slug away at each other within 600m.

Oh wait, the REAL game is, or at least was, all about popping in and out of cover from as far away as possible.

The Gauss was a dominant weapon for months. Combined with PPCs it's 15 pinpoint damage and zero heat made it an obvious choice for many builds. Say what you want, but claiming "oh, the Gauss was never REALLY all THAT good" is some *********.

or u could just learn to aim u derp and FYI the ONLY reason gauss rifles were imba last patch was because perfect synch with ppc's 4 sec cd vs 5 and 1 heat for 15 damage. But seems kinda pointless to explain anything to you. Because you know best :P

Yes. My inability to aim is why a weapon that can dump all it's damage in one shot is better to me than one that rapid fires.

your logic holds true so long as both weapons did the same damage over time. which in case they don't actually if some1 is a really good shot they can kill u with rapid fire autocannon alot faster than you would die before

derp

I will do My QQ here. My poor Cent-AL with his one ERPPC was heat neutral then HOT and is now Freakin STEAMY. I mean really?! its 1 ERppc. Fine you want to stop the jumpy snipers (cough get behind a building) nerf multiple ERPPC alphas fine. Why raise the heat on Single PPC's? Then you still force the snipers to link fire at least. PGI Hear my call, let him live again!!!

Or I'll just give him a ppc and play a little different ;)
NO REALLY >_< GIVE it BACK
QQ done

It would be funny if all they did was increase the jam rate back to 25% lol.

I'm pretty sure the nerf is going to be harder than the buff.

Once upon a time, the LPL was "acceptable" in a niche.

Now... I weep.

Heard a rumour the jam rate was going to be dynamic based upon how hot you were... Interesting concept hope its true
