Hi there. I'm writing an open statement to the Devs to request that AFK or leaving penalties not be implimented.

I enjoy this game because I feel the freedom to step away from the game when real life calls. Sometimes I forget minimized to read the news, sure those times are my fault. Most often than not I need to help my wife. I play in our living room and often get asked to help her with tasks or to provide my input for things. I don't regret setting the game down to help her - I want to do that. Don't anyone dare say anything negative about my wife. She is great at letting me have my own time to play. I'm living with the woman of my dreams for the rest of my life and a game will not get in the way of me doing something for us.

I already feel guilty for leaving the team. It could be 30 seconds - it could be the entire match. I don't need to be shamed into staying. LoL does it. CS does it. A little reminder notification saying "hey you need to be playing our game. hey you little coward get back here and play," doesn't win me over to want to pay for the game. I'm not a post-modern blip of data, I am a person. Giving me the liberty to do what I need to do in life reaffirms that I as a person and I as a player am respected. In return I have mutual respect for a company who embodies a busines model thoughtful of the mature playerbase they cator to.

It makes sense for me to buy mech bay slots once I get better at the game. My playstyles will change over the years and I'll develop new tastes in mechs. At that time when I'm that good I'll buy slots when it's worth it for me to make that choice.

As a new player to the Mechwarrior series, but from a small game called Dystopia. I can see the depth in this game similar to what I played with in Dystopia. I want to latch on to this game and be with it for the long run. MechWarrior Online has the loadout customization, which personalizes ones playstyle, that I heavily enjoy and miss. Truely, I want to be in this game environment, with the great community who communicates in-game organically because the game mechanics are solid. I will be here as long as I'm given a chance.

A chance to explain that real life comes first.

TMI, dude. ;)

But really...if leaving matches is constant thing with you, then try not to play when you think you might get distracted by real life stuff. That's not fair to anyone.

I have a family and I absolutely understand the need to ditch a match occasionally, but I try to minimize that by playing when it's not likely to happen. If I do have to ditch a match, I fully accept the repercussions from doing so.

It's just a game. Do what you need to do and don't worry about it.

Heads up: you're not the only "person" playing this game. It turns out that everyone else on your team is also a person, and they would love to have an even fight instead of being one down.

I'm married. I play both this and League of Legends. My wife knows that I prefer not to leave games, but if she needs me for something, I am gone without a second thought

Here's what separates me from you, though: I know that in doing that, I am completely screwing over my teammates, and I am prepared to face the consequences. My teammates have a right to expect that I will not leave them to an unfair fight, and I respect that right.

Real life obviously takes precedence, which is why I will gladly accept the consequences of my actions.

You've accepted that real life comes first, and that you're a full person. That's good.

Now you need to accept that your allies are people too, and that they have the same rights to a fun, fair game that you do.

There is already a penalty- you get next to no money for that match. (like 5 or 10k just for dropping, which is even too much imo but still useless). They really don't need to add another one.

Considering that the average match is around 8 minutes, there are few excuses for leaving. How many emergencies do you have that can't wait until the game ends or you die? At the very least go crazy and get yourself killed while firing your weapons.

...oh boy

nice Text...but really...no thx..if an player for what reason he may have, leave in the battle,he should be punished in some ways..and consider this...and battle takes about..what 5-8 minutes of your time?.(yes i can take up to 15 but its really rare in pug) ...so ur may organize ur play time so that you dont have to go afk..and really dont give us that realife goes first,we all know it,but it dosnt means we have to endure afk´ler like you during OUR free time while we trying to enjoy the game...

just think about when you really have time to play that game and then play it...thx alot

This really is a hard one. I take my gaming seriously, maybe too seriously to the point that I am loathed to call MechWarrior a game. For me its more a way of life, especially now that I have lost my other big interest, Motorcycling (Bad smash a few years ago, Wife won't let me have another one).

Anyway, It's very rare that I will ditch mid match and my wife knows this. If I do, I really feel bad about letting my Lance down because as far as I am concerned, they come first. As Krazy Kat said above, it's only around 8 minutes anyway.

Dude.... Matchs takes up to 15 mins, and thats very rare, they at most get to 10 min mark.

You get killed before that, or you can simply and go rampage in between enemy formation firing your weapons...

But, having an AFK in your team is really unfair, if you're going to be AFK constantly, wait until you have more time to play, or not play at all.

And again, it's only 5 min at most...
