ST 300, almost full FF Armor, EndoSteel
11 DHS
LRM20, LRM10
2 ER Large Lasers
TAG
BAP
Artemis
4 tons Ammo
Advanced Zoom
Advanced Target Decay
1 critical left over. Not bad as a missile/ support. A little hot when it all gets going though.

Here. I even managed to keep the BAP XD Whatcha think?
Don't store ammo in the Center Torso, once the armor is gone a critical hit will kill the mech. Arms are ok. BAP+TAG+Artemis have a cumulative effect on concentrating the missile cluster in flight.. Not sure I want an XL engine, but the added gun might be worth it. BAP also extends your sensors and target lock out to 1000 meters from 800. ER Lasers hit at 675 meters so you have the opportunity to defeat mechs you are hitting with LRMs, it's a dedicated long range mech though.
Try this with a UAC-5

Protip, if you get a crit in your CT you are dead anyway (1 crit to engine = insta death), so putting ammo in CT is safe. Also ammo is spent top of the mech to the bottom.
BTW, BAP has no affect on LRM clustering. BAP extends your sensors out to 1250, cause sensors on their own can go out to 1000. 30 tubes won't kill anything unless they stand still within your LOS, don't shoot you back, and let you tag them.
2 ER LL's are a poor choice for protection. Added ammo for longevity, and took out the ERLL's because they are a poor defensive weapon, and produce way too much heat. Replaced with 2 ML's and a LBX-10 because you can actually defend yourself against light mechs with those.
Since you want to run a support mech, XL is the way to go as you'll be stinking behind your team, and not engaging in close range combat unless you have no choice, and even then you have a decent amount of weapons are your disposal.

Usually by the time it starts critting, you are cored and dead, anyhow.

Yes the BAP is not useless in general, but for an LRM boat it is. That is because a BAP does its work within the deadzone of your LRM's. The only gain from it is the ability to target ECM mechs, there is no damage bonus you gain by equipping it, thus it is a subpar piece of equipment for an LRM boat. There are better things like ammo or heatsinks you should fit instead.
And don't tell me that an LRM boat is in need of 25% more sensor range and 25% faster target info gathering....

That's not what the Dev's said by the way. They said BAP buffs Artemis along with TAG. No I can't find the post, it was long ago, but I have been putting BAP on my Artemis equipped LRM mechs ever since I read that.
Ammo explodes when it crits so it's not going in the CT and I am sure you have all had the Gauss Rifle explode when the section is still got armor. Because MWO is a Sim I am going to assume things function realistically, even if the Dev's haven't said it in a post.
What happens when you run LRMs is someone breaks off the other team to brawl you so you must spot these runners while they are still at range. The ER lasers are very handy for this. I think I may go with more heatsinks though. Or the UAC-5. LRMs alone won't stop someone running at you unfortunately.
Anyway, all these missile configured mechs look very Orion-ish. Missiles and Guns is kind of the classic Orion loadout.

Yea, I had the same problem. Wanted to hit stuff further than regular large lasers. Wound up that way instead:

I like the second one (except it's speed), though TBH, with the Protector, I pretty much never lose a side torso, so don't see any reason to skip the XL.
PROTECTOR

Currently, engine, gyro, and head item crits have no additional effects.
I can not accurately explain why you died with internal structure remaining. It has happened to me as well. The post action report claimed I was hit by a PPC. I can assume the damage was done faster than HSR and my client could show it.

Show me where it says that, because just the other day my CT was still yellow, and I had armor on my side torsos front and back still, and died with yellow internal CT.
engines can't be critted, that's just how it is. You probably got PPC/Gaussed and did not notice your internals go instantly. Happens pretty often.

Wrong and wrong again. As stated, engine crits do nothing atm.
And ammo isn't used from top to bottom, it even isn't used like on the monitor in the cockpit. It depends on the mech, in which way it is spend. You need to examine this for every single chassis if you want to know which part is ammoless first. Trust me, that takes time
