Was there ever any attempt to make a mektek version of battlespace using the advanced rules (with maybe a touch more depth added to basic vector math)? Because I keep thinking battlespace on a computer that can track vectors for you, and automatically correct relative vectors (e.g., if all units are moving in the same direction, you can reduce their vector in that direction by the same amount automatically) and have a huge map, would fix all of the flaws in battlespace and make it one of the most awesome board games ever ;-).
For those who don't know, Battlespace is a standalone battletech game that is focused on deep space combat. Fighters are handled in squadrons, there are dropships and warships. Similarly, aerotech2 borrowed these rules for some in-space fighter action.
What you may not know is that Battlespace is the best space combat game ever made because it is the ONLY game (under advanced rules) that uses realistic space movement.
In other words, in space, there is no friction. Your potential max speed is only limited by acceleration and how long your fuel will last (bounded by the speed of light). Battlespace is the only game I've ever seen that uses this. So if you're travelling N at 10 hexes per turn, and you can turn SE, apply thrust of like 6, and you'll end up with a new speed of like N4, NE6, and of course now you are facing SE, so you can curve around a target while shooting at it.
[I homebrewed it so the acceleration only applies at 50% effectiveness the first turn, and I might have added a vector chart that made it a little more complex and realistic, but you can check my calculus and geometry later!]
This is awesome.
The problem is, the map was never big enough because you tend to move in arcs in space.
But under advanced rules, where you applied force in a vector, and then applied the new vector, there were a lot of awesome tactical puzzles and you could do things like basically fly sideways past a warship to strafe it. Or get in a dogfight moving backwards at times for at least a round or two.
So just curious if there's ever been anything like mektek for battlespace.

No idea at all, but the idea of aerotech coming to Mechwarrior Online is awsome. I know next to nothing about aerotech, other than it is a fairly deep part of the bt universe.
Mech cockpit to aerotech cockpit doesnt seem like a big leap to me, so i am hoping that this is in game by christmas! just kidding

it would be cool to have Aerotech in MWO. But it's probably not feasible. Plus, imagine all the whining about fighters being overpowered because they straff, bomb, and are hard to hit from a mech. Just like in real life, air superiority is ground superiority. As soon as one side's fighters downed the other side's they would quickly find and eliminate the other team's mechs. It would be very cool to have an AeroTech Online game though.

Doubt it will ever happen in MWO, but MWLL is there for us until it does in some future game or update.
